SPRING WEEKEND ACTIVITY - DOOR COUNTY, WISCONSIN
If you are looking for a fun weekend getaway in Wisconsin, you have to visit for the Roofing of the Goats Parade in Sister Bay - an adorable town in Door County, WI!
Door County is a group of vacation towns in Wisconsin, located right on Lake Michigan. These towns have amazing shops, state parks, vineyards, boating, beaches, restaurants, and more! There is so much to do here in the summer!
One of my favorite weekends to spend in Door County is the roofing of the goats parade in Sister Bay (this year it is on June 8th). In Sister Bay you will find the famous Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant, a beloved local restaurant famous for its traditional Swedish breakfasts! This restaurant is also beloved because they have a roof full of goats all summer! The roofing of the goats parade is their annual parade where they bring the goats to the roof for the summer.
⭐️This event kicks off with the traditional parade early in the day - but it doesn’t stop there! There are tons of kid friendly activities (bubble blowing, goat petting, balloon animals, face painting, arts and crafts). There is also a great park and a family friendly beach.
⭐️You can grab a drink and play yard games at the STABBUR Beer Garden. Last year they had fun games going on at the beer garden all day (including a strong man competition to see who could hold a full beer stein the longest 😂).
⭐️Explore the many cute boutique shops.
⭐️Have the best pizza for lunch at Wild Tomato.
⭐️There are many other great restaurants for dinner!
If you want to make a weekend out of your trip here, I also recommend driving 20 mins to Fish Creek (another Door County town):
-Have breakfast at the White Gull Inn (their Cherry Stuffed French Toast was voted “Best Breakfast In America” on GMA in 2010). Or visit the White Gull Inn for a traditional Fish Boil dinner.
-Head to Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek for tons of amazing hiking, bike trails, beaches, camping, and exploring!
-Explore even more adorable shops!
Door County is an AMAZING getaway in Wisconsin! There is so much to do and explore. Later in summer you can go cherry picking, or visit the famous door county vineyards. If you can’t get here for the goat roofing parade - I highly recommend coming another time during the summer or fall!
