Shocking…
Let’s take a look at the big picture. Thanks for the insight, Trent. @trentytok #reallifemoments #metabolichealth #insulinresistance
From personal experience, understanding the impact of hyper-palatable foods has been eye-opening. These foods—engineered to be irresistibly tasty and addictive—are fueling a global health crisis by increasing the risk of insulin resistance, obesity, and other metabolic disorders. The problem is compounded by the fact that these products dominate more than half of the world's calorie consumption, making them extremely difficult to avoid. What’s even more concerning is how big food manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies appear to be locked in a cycle where unhealthy food leads to chronic conditions that require lifelong medication. This cycle places a significant financial burden on taxpayers through increased health insurance premiums and subsidies, yet real solutions remain elusive. The medications prescribed often only manage symptoms without addressing the root cause. I found that shifting towards eating real, whole foods—those that existed decades ago before the rise of ultra-processed options—can greatly improve metabolic health. Incorporating fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and quality proteins helped me regain energy and better regulate blood sugar levels. Moreover, getting adequate sleep and avoiding the lure of hyper-processed foods helped break the addictive cycle. This journey taught me to be critical of marketing and expert guidelines that may be influenced by large food and pharma interests. Protecting metabolic health means taking control of our diets, opting for nutrient-dense real food, and supporting policies that promote transparency and healthier food environments. By making these changes, we can start paying less into the costly 'sick care' system and focus on true health and wellbeing.
