WIP 🚧 NEW OC !!!
Actually, this isn’t a new OC. It’s just one that I created a long time ago back when I was watching The Walking Dead religiously. 😊 I haven’t really worked on her in a long time and I thought I would do a new update. The drawing is not complete because I want to do some more research on end of the world Looks like walking dead or last of us. #drew it myself 🕺 #artist#artis #draw
Creating and updating an original character (OC) inspired by post-apocalyptic worlds like The Walking Dead or The Last of Us is both challenging and rewarding. When I initially designed my OC years ago, I was deeply immersed in those series, which influenced her style and backstory significantly. Revisiting this character now, I realize how much richer and more detailed I can make her given my growth as an artist. Research plays a crucial role in shaping an authentic end-of-the-world aesthetic. I have been exploring various visual elements such as distressed clothing, survival gear, and environmental wear-and-tear that reflect a gritty, realistic survival scenario. Watching scenes and studying character outfits from TWD and Last of Us has given me ideas for incorporating functional design elements that tell a story. What excites me most about this update is blending my original vision with new inspirations. For instance, considering the psychological impact of an apocalypse—how trauma might affect posture, expression, or even scars—adds depth to her character. Color palettes that mimic desolation, like muted earth tones and rust colors, also help convey the world she inhabits. If you’re an artist or fan thinking about revisiting older creations, I encourage you to embrace this process of rediscovery. Allow your current experiences and inspirations to enhance your previous work. Documenting sketches and notes about references can greatly improve the final design. Most importantly, enjoy the journey of breathing new life into an old project while honoring what originally inspired you!
