American Innovation! Day 8! (Video)
7/8/26 Doodle. Laser Technology, (Theodore Maiman) for 'American Innovation!' Where I'm drawing things invented in the USA for its 250th anniversary!
Working on this American Innovation series has truly deepened my appreciation for how inventors like Theodore Maiman have changed the technological landscape. Laser technology, invented in the 1960s, not only revolutionized science but also paved the way for advancements in medicine, communications, and manufacturing. In my artistic process, I try to capture not just the invention itself but the spirit of creativity and progress behind it. Drawing inventions such as the laser makes history feel alive and accessible, sparking curiosity about other American contributions to innovation. For instance, lasers are now integral in everyday tech, from barcode scanners to high-speed internet fiber optics. Reflecting on how these technologies emerged from simple concepts inspires me to keep exploring and appreciating the roots of modern life. This project coincides with the USA’s 250th anniversary, a perfect reminder of how innovation drives a nation’s growth and identity. Sharing these doodles allows others to connect visually with important inventions through art, history, and technology combined. Engaging with fellow creators and history enthusiasts while tagging #innovation, #usa, and #history has fostered a supportive community sharing knowledge about American ingenuity. I encourage everyone to look closely at the inventions around them and imagine the creative journey behind each one—it’s an celebration of human potential and progress.
