Pets are better than humans
Controveraial opinion: Animals deserve a longer life than humans. If I could have 1 superpower-it would be to make our pets live a lifetime as long as their humans. I would take that over invisibility, the ability to fly, timetravel, superhuman strength, etc.
I believe that our pets enrich our lives so much, that it is inherently more pure and better than any human companionship. Humans let each other down all the time. Too often, love is conditional or transactional among people, even family members & friends. I have never experienced that with a single pet of mine...and I've been around the sun almost 57 times. Humans can connect with animals on such a deep level-no matter the species...dogs, bunnies, horses, cats, lions, birds, goats, squirrels, reptiles, even insects (there, I said it) etc. etc. It's not that I don't love the humans in my life. I absolutely do. However, my pets have never left me with the pain of disappointment. So yeah, my controverial opinion is that animals deserve more than humans-and that includes a longer life. I guess I'm selfish in that regard...because it's the pain that I'd be avoiding by extending their lives. I'm ok with that.
