Don't forget to pick up a copy of "The Oceanic Journey" at Singapore Oceanarium store to take a piece of the experience home with you.
Having visited the Singapore Oceanarium during World Oceans Day celebrations, I was truly inspired by the vibrant community focus on ocean conservation. One of the most fascinating facts I learned is about 'whale falls'—when a whale dies, its body sinks to the deep sea and creates an entire ecosystem called a whale fall. This ecosystem can support deep-sea organisms for decades and eventually becomes the foundation for new coral reefs, providing a habitat for anemones, corals, and sponges. This remarkable natural process exemplifies how nothing in the ocean is wasted and how deeply interconnected marine life is. The event's sustainable marketplace featured 15 local brands dedicated to eco-friendly products, which was a great way to see how community efforts contribute to ocean health. I also picked up a copy of "The Oceanic Journey," a beautiful coffee table book that brings hidden ocean stories to life. It has become a reminder of how we all play a role in protecting the ocean, not just as passive observers but as active guardians. If you’re passionate about marine biodiversity and want to learn meaningful ways to help, this annual event at the Singapore Oceanarium is a must-visit. It’s free to the public and offers a meaningful, educational experience that stays with you long after you leave.
