I start by gently separating each loc, working from the ends upwards to avoid unnecessary pulling. This is where having a good audiobook or, in my case, a physical book, comes in handy! My 'current read' is usually something immersive, and right now, I'm captivated by a novel from LAUREN ASHER – perfect for keeping my mind engaged while my hands are busy. After the initial takedown, a thorough cleanse is crucial. I use a clarifying shampoo to remove any product buildup, followed by a deeply moisturizing conditioner. Because bob locs can sometimes feel a bit dry at the ends, I pay extra attention to conditioning. Once rinsed, I gently squeeze out excess water with a microfibre towel and apply a lightweight leave-in conditioner and a natural oil blend to seal in moisture. This routine ensures my locs remain soft, pliable, and less prone to breakage. One of the best things about bob locs is how easy they are to style post-takedown. I love a simple side part with a few locs pinned back, or a half-up, half-down look. For a bit more flair, I can easily create two small braids at the front or add some decorative cuffs. The key is to keep it simple and let the natural beauty of the locs shine. Regular moisturizing and sleeping with a silk scarf are non-negotiables for maintaining their luster and preventing frizz.
