ถ้าใครกำลังหา “A Nest of My Own” ว่าเป็นหนังสือแนวไหน อ่านแล้วได้อะไร บอกเลยว่าเล่มนี้เป็นสายภาพวาดบ้าน/ห้องที่ดูแล้วอบอุ่นมากแบบโทนละมุนๆ เหมาะกับคนชอบงานโฮมมี่ ชอบดูมุมบ้าน มุมหน้าต่าง แสงในห้อง และรายละเอียดเล็กๆ ที่ทำให้คำว่า “บ้าน” ดูเป็นที่พักใจจริงๆ สิ่งที่ฉันชอบใน A Nest of My Own คือมันไม่ได้มีแค่ภาพสวยอย่างเดียว แต่มีความ “เล่าเรื่อง” ผ่านของใช้ในบ้านด้วย เหมือนผู้เขียนพาเราเดินดูห้อง แล้วชี้ให้ดูว่าในมุมนี้มีหมอนอิงแบบไหน ทำไมถึงเลือกแบบนี้ มีตะกร้าหวายไว้ตรงนั้นเพราะอะไร โคมไฟให้แสงแบบไหนถึงทำให้ห้องนุ่มขึ้น หรือชั้นหนังสือวางยังไงให้ทั้งใช้งานได้และดูน่ารัก ทำให้เราอ่านไปแล้วเผลออยากกลับไปจัดห้องตัวเองตาม สำหรับคนที่ตั้งใจซื้อเพราะอยากได้ “ไอเดียแต่งห้อง” เล่มนี้ให้เรฟได้หลายสไตล์ ตั้งแต่มุมอ่านหนังสือ มุมทำงาน ไปจนถึงห้องนอนที่มีเตียงสองชั้น/ชั้นลอย (เห็นแล้วอยากมีบันไดขึ้นไปนอนข้างบนเลย) รวมถึงรายละเอียดแบบแปลนหรือภาพรวมของบ้านบางช่วงที่ช่วยให้เราจินตนาการการจัดพื้นที่ได้ง่ายขึ้น ไม่ใช่แค่ภาพมุมเดียวโดดๆ ทริคที่ฉันได้จากการดูภาพในเล่ม (และลองทำตามแล้วเวิร์ก) คือ 1) เลือก “ของน้อยชิ้นแต่ถูกที่” เช่น โคมไฟตั้งโต๊ะหนึ่งดวง + หมอนอิง 2 ใบ ก็เปลี่ยนอารมณ์มุมห้องได้ 2) ใช้ตะกร้าหรือกล่องช่วยเก็บของจุกจิก ให้ห้องดูโล่งแต่ยังน่ารัก 3) ชั้นหนังสือไม่จำเป็นต้องแน่นทุกช่อง เว้นช่องไว้ใส่ของตกแต่งเล็กๆ จะดูหายใจได้ 4) เพิ่มของที่ให้ความรู้สึกปลอดภัย/สบายใจ เช่น ตุ๊กตาหมีหรือผ้าห่มนุ่มๆ แล้วห้องจะ “เป็นเรา” มากขึ้น ถ้าใครยังลังเล แนะนำให้คิดว่าเล่มนี้เหมาะกับ 2 แบบ: (1) คนอยากได้หนังสือภาพสวยๆ ไว้เปิดดูฮีลใจ (2) คนที่กำลังหาเรฟแต่งห้องและอยากได้ไอเดียจากของจริงในชีวิตประจำวันอย่างหมอน ตะกร้า โคมไฟ ชั้นหนังสือ ถ้วยชามแก้วน้ำ คืออ่านจบแล้วจะอยากกลับไปจัดมุมเล็กๆ ให้เป็น “รังของตัวเอง” ทันที
