My 1st Cookbook Signing 🥰
I can hardly believe I am the author of a cookbook!! The book signing was amazing! Heading to Green Bay in Nov 21st!! 🥰 #cookbook #bigfamilycooking #booksigning #travelingtips #cookingrecipes
It still feels like a dream to say 'I'm a cookbook author!' The energy at my first book signing was just incredible, surrounded by so many supportive faces. It truly marked the culmination of a journey that felt impossible at times. Seeing my words and recipes bound in a beautiful book, and then signing copies for people who are excited to cook from it – there's nothing quite like it. If you're someone dreaming of publishing your own cookbook, know that it's absolutely achievable, and it starts with passion. For those of you wondering what it's really like to create a cookbook, let me share a little behind-the-scenes. It’s far more than just writing down recipes! One of the biggest challenges, and joys, was curating the recipes. I wanted to include dishes that truly represent big family cooking – comfort food, easy weeknight meals, and special occasion treats that have been tried and tested over the years. Each recipe had to be perfect, not just in taste, but also in clarity. I spent countless hours testing, re-testing, and refining instructions to make sure they were foolproof for every home cook. Then came the organizational aspect. You might be wondering about the technical side, like how to format everything. While I didn't use a specific 'cookbook template word' document, the process of structuring the book was crucial. I spent a lot of time thinking about how chapters would flow, how to present ingredients lists clearly, and how to format step-by-step instructions so they’re easy to follow. I imagined someone in their kitchen, cooking along, and tried to anticipate any questions they might have. This involved creating my own 'template' for each recipe, ensuring consistency throughout the entire book. It’s a meticulous process, but essential for a professional and user-friendly cookbook. Another key part was deciding on the types of ingredients to feature. For big family cooking, I lean towards accessible, quality ingredients that deliver maximum flavor without breaking the bank. For example, when it comes to fats, I often reach for versatile options like olive oil for dressings and sautéing, or butter for richness in baking. While I don't specify every single brand, I always emphasize using good quality staples. It's about finding what works best for your family and budget, ensuring fresh, wholesome meals. The whole journey, from the initial spark of an idea to the final launch, has been an incredible experience. It truly has been 'A Day in my Life' (or rather, many days!) dedicated to this project. If you're thinking about creating your own collection of recipes, whether it's for personal use or to share with the world, my biggest advice is to just start. Don't worry about perfection, focus on getting your ideas down. Test your recipes, get feedback, and build your 'cookbook template' as you go. And remember, the support system around you makes all the difference. I’m so excited for my next stop in Green Bay in November, where I'll be meeting more amazing people and sharing my cooking passion.
