GETTING CLOSE 💛 #pregnant
Pregnancy between 16 and 28 weeks is an incredible journey filled with significant milestones both for the mother and the developing baby. Around the 16-week mark, many women begin to feel a boost in energy and notice changes such as a growing belly and the start of fetal movements, often called 'quickening'. It’s an exciting time as these first flutters are often the baby beginning to stretch and kick. By 20 weeks, a detailed anatomy scan usually takes place, offering a unique glimpse into the baby's development and confirming health and growth parameters. This period marks the halfway point of pregnancy and many mothers find this phase particularly rewarding as the baby’s movements become more frequent and noticeable. Approaching 28 weeks, the baby has grown substantially, and development is accelerating to prepare for life outside the womb. The mother might experience more pronounced physical changes and symptoms such as backaches, leg cramps, or heartburn. It's also the threshold where the pregnancy transitions into the third trimester, meaning increased prenatal check-ups and planning for birth. During this timeframe, maintaining a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients, staying hydrated, and engaging in suitable physical activity can positively impact both maternal and fetal health. Prenatal vitamins continue to be important, especially those containing folic acid, iron, and calcium. Emotionally, this phase can bring increased excitement but also anxiety about the upcoming changes. Connecting with other expecting mothers, participating in prenatal classes, or keeping a pregnancy journal can provide support and prepare for parenthood. This mid-pregnancy stage is a time for celebration and preparation, embracing the changes while staying informed and supported.
