All of these are pretty self explanatory. The hospital will provide you with almost everything you need like diapers, wipes, formula even if you decide to go that route, etc.
* Based off my experience, I say bring around 2-4 changes of baby clothes, even if you’re staying for 2 nights. Baby can have blowouts and get themselves dirty out of no where. Better to be prepared!
* lLittle hats and mittens to keep them warm and so they don’t scratch their beautiful faces
* Swaddles will be provided, but nice to carry your own. They usually take newborn pictures at the hospital, so just in case you want to wrap them up in something unique and that’s more you!
* Blankets are a must. At first, for some reason I didn’t think babies needed a supply of blankets but yes they do!
* Diapers and wipes are items the hospital provide, but it’s always good to have your own as well. In my opinion, Huggies diapers have been the best for my baby. They absorb well and don’t give him rashes. They also stretch unlike most diapers. They are soft material and don’t feel like paper like some I’ve tried before. Rico baby wipes have been the best for me. They are nice and thick, not too thin, they don’t rip easily and don’t irritate the skin!

Getting ready for your baby's arrival is such an exciting time, and packing the hospital bag is a big part of that! While the original list covers some amazing essentials, I wanted to share a few more tips and insights that really helped me feel prepared and comfortable during our hospital stay and beyond. First off, let's talk about the diaper bag itself. Beyond just what goes inside, choosing the right bag can make a huge difference. I opted for a backpack style, like the one in the pictures, because it kept my hands free – which you’ll definitely appreciate with a newborn! Look for one with lots of compartments to keep things organized. Trust me, rummaging for a tiny beanie or a fresh diaper with a crying baby can be a challenge! Regarding baby clothes, it’s always better to have a few extra outfits than not enough. Blowouts happen, and sometimes little spit-ups require a full change. I found that having 3-4 changes, especially comfy onesies and soft gowns, was perfect for a 2-night stay. And don't forget that special 'coming home' outfit! It’s a sweet memory to look back on. Those tiny beanies/hats and mittens are more important than you might think. Beyond just keeping them warm, those mittens are lifesavers for preventing accidental scratches from those surprisingly sharp newborn nails. My baby loved his soft little hats right after birth, it made him feel so snug. While the hospital does provide basic swaddles, bringing your own can add a personal touch, especially if you plan on taking newborn photos. I loved having a softer, stretchy swaddle in a pattern I adored. It made me feel like I was wrapping my baby in a piece of home. And for blankets, you really can't have too many! They're great for layering in the bassinet, covering the car seat on the way home, or just for extra cuddles. Now, about diapers and wipes. While hospitals supply them, having your preferred brand on hand is smart. I completely agree with the Huggies recommendation; their 'Little Snugglers' were fantastic for my baby's delicate skin and fit so well. And those Rico baby wipes? They’re truly thick and gentle, which was a huge plus for avoiding irritation. If you're unsure, grab a small pack of a few different brands before the birth to see what works best for your little one. Finally, don't forget to have your car seat properly installed before you even head to the hospital! The hospital won't discharge you without seeing that your baby can safely leave. It’s one less thing to worry about when you’re eager to get home and start your new adventure as a family.
