Rating Everything I had @ the Minnesota state fair
It’s always fun to visit the state fair. I tried a couple of new foods this year, however I find myself always loving the classics 🎡✨
.
⭐️steamed pork bun- this was good, pretty light ..like steamed buns usually are, I found the flavor to be okay..definitely go early and try the sticky rice..when I went it was sold out.
📍 the union Hmong kitchen
.
⭐️chile mango whip - this was pretty good, honestly it was really the presentation. I had really high expectations for this one, it was good.. I would say still worth it!
📍 Tasti whip
.
⭐️frozen margarita- perfectly refreshing..I would say let it melt a little bit and that really brings out the flavor ✨
📍 cafe caribe
.
⭐️cheese curds - I feel like it’s hard to mess these up, seriously amazing! ( try it with ranch! )
📍mini donuts and cheese curds
.
⭐️sweet Martha’s cookies- I true fair staple , there’s a reason she’s been so successful! Tip: get a milkshake and dip your cookies in it!

Oh, those Minnesota State Fair cheese curds! You truly can't go wrong. I mentioned they're a 10/10, and I stand by it. What makes them so irresistible? It's that perfect squeaky texture when you bite into them, encased in a crispy, golden batter. My secret? Always ask for ranch dressing – it’s a game-changer! I’ve tried them year after year, and the batch from 'Mini Donuts and Cheese Curds' never disappoints. There are other vendors, of course, but that's my go-to for that classic salty, savory crunch. Then there's the great debate: team corn dog or team pronto pup? For me, it's pronto pup all the way, and my 10000/10 rating isn't an exaggeration! The difference, for those who don't know, is usually the batter – pronto pups often have a pancake-like batter that's a bit softer and sweeter, perfectly balancing the savory hot dog inside. I always grab mine from the 'Pronto Pup' stand; there’s something nostalgic about that exact flavor that just screams Minnesota State Fair. Beyond these classics, the Minnesota State Fair offers a treasure trove of salty delights. I always keep an eye out for giant dill pickles on a stick – surprisingly refreshing and oh-so-salty, perfect for cutting through the richness of other foods. And let's not forget the endless varieties of fries! From classic crinkle-cut to seasoned curly fries, there’s a salty potato fix for everyone. I once stumbled upon a vendor doing loaded fries with cheese and bacon, and it was pure salty heaven. It’s all part of the fun of exploring all the unique 'Minnesota state fair foods'. One tip I've learned over the years for satisfying those salty cravings? Don't be afraid to wander off the main drag. Sometimes the best culinary gems are tucked away. I also love to check the official fair map or app before I go to pinpoint new or highly-recommended salty snacks. And if you see a long line, especially for something fried and savory, it’s usually a good sign! I've found that some of the best fried pickles or unique savory skewers are at the smaller, independent stalls, so keep your eyes peeled for those hidden gems. It’s easy to get lost in the sweet treats, but for me, a perfect fair day always includes a healthy balance of both. Those salty bites are essential for recharging and making you crave the next sweet indulgence. So next time you're at the Minnesota State Fair, definitely seek out those amazing cheese curds and pronto pups, but also be adventurous and discover your own favorite salty pictures-worthy snacks! Happy eating!
