There’s nothing worse than a stiff, scratchy mask, no matter how cool the design is! Thinking about designs, the possibilities are endless. Beyond the humorous '2020 VIBES' style, I’ve seen people create stunning patterns, favorite characters, or even subtle textures. For kids, this is where sublimation really shines! Imagine their excitement wearing a mask featuring their own drawings, their favorite cartoon hero, or even a silly face. They love anything that stands out! Plus, involving them in the design process makes it even more special for them. The process itself is quite straightforward. Once you have your design ready in software like Affinity Photo, print it in mirror image on your sublimation paper. Then, precisely position it on your blank mask, secure it with heat-resistant tape – a must-have to prevent ghosting! I always use a heat press, like my Cricut Press, because it ensures even heat and pressure, which is crucial for a crisp transfer. The settings I use, 385°F for 60 seconds, have given me consistently great results. However, always do a small test if you're using a new blank or different equipment, as temperatures can vary slightly. After pressing, peel away the paper carefully to reveal your perfectly sublimated design. It’s always such a satisfying moment! And don't forget about care: to keep your sublimated mask looking its best, wash it in cold water with mild detergent and air dry. This helps preserve the colors and the fabric integrity.
