Veil of Embers has sold over 300 books, has reached multiple lists, put on KU, had my first author event and sold all my books 🥹😭 honestly it’s been busy and I’m so grateful for each and every one of you! It may not seem like a big deal but I’m so proud of how far Veil has come!

... Read moreThe journey of releasing a book can be both exhilarating and challenging, and my experience with Veil of Embers highlights just that. Over the past few months, I've witnessed how persistence and community support play critical roles in an indie author's success. Seeing Veil of Embers sell over 300 copies and reach multiple bestseller lists was a milestone I had dreamed of but did not take for granted. One aspect that truly shaped this journey was participating in Kindle Unlimited (KU). Having Veil featured in KU not only boosted readership but also allowed readers to experience the story without immediate cost, which can be a great way to build a fan base for new authors. The pages read on KU gave me invaluable feedback and a sense of how engaging the audience found the story. Another significant event was my first author event. There's something profoundly rewarding about meeting readers face-to-face, sharing the enthusiasm for the story, and hearing their perspectives directly. Selling all the physical copies at the event was a heartwarming validation of the connection between author and reader. For authors looking to follow a similar path, consistency in releasing quality content and engaging meaningfully with readers—both online, through platforms like Bookstagram and forums, and offline at events—is key. The fantasy romance and dark fantasy genres have passionate audiences who appreciate a well-crafted story rich with myth and legend, much like those celebrated in the rankings I've seen for books in Celtic mythology and sword & sorcery fantasy. Looking forward, I’m excited about the upcoming release of book two in the Veil of Embers series. Each release is a new chapter not just in the story, but in my journey as an author. For readers and fellow writers alike, the key takeaway is to embrace every step, from the quiet days of writing to the bustling moments of seeing your work find its place in the world.
