... Read moreMyrtle Beach is truly a gem, especially during summertime! I recently had such a fantastic trip there, and I wanted to share some of my favorite experiences and tips to help you plan your own unforgettable getaway to South Carolina. First off, you absolutely have to go down the boardwalk, especially at night. It’s so pretty with all the lights, even though it can get quite busy! It's the perfect place for an evening stroll, grabbing some classic arcade games, or enjoying live music. You can find everything from delicious funnel cakes to souvenir shops. The energy is just infectious, and it’s a quintessential Myrtle Beach experience. And speaking of evenings, don't miss the chance to walk down the beach in the evening and watch the sunset. The colors over the ocean are breathtaking, and it’s such a peaceful way to end a day of excitement. During the day, the waves are usually not rough at Myrtle, which means you can really relax and enjoy a good swim without worrying about strong currents. I spent hours just floating and soaking up the sun – pure bliss! For accommodation, I highly recommend looking into staying in an Airbnb. Some of them have amazing views, just like the one I had! Plus, many come with a private pool, which is a huge bonus for those hot summer days when you want a quick dip without the sand. Airbnb offers more space and often a kitchen, which can save you money on dining out. Just make sure to check recent reviews for amenities and cleanliness. No Myrtle Beach trip is complete without a visit to Broadway at the Beach. It’s fun day or night! This massive entertainment complex has something for everyone. I loved exploring the unique shops, catching a show, and just enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. For dining, I definitely recommend Paula Deen's Family Kitchen. I even saw her there in person one time on a random visit – how cool is that?! The food is classic Southern comfort, served family-style, so it’s perfect for sharing with your group. Beyond these highlights, here are a few extra insider tips: Best Time to Visit: While summer is fantastic, if you prefer fewer crowds and milder weather, consider visiting in late spring (April-May) or early fall (September-October). The ocean is still warm enough for swimming! Packing Essentials: Don't forget your sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, comfortable sandals for the boardwalk, a good book for beach relaxation, and plenty of swimwear. A light jacket might also be handy for cooler evenings. Explore Beyond the Beach: While the beach is the star, there are also mini-golf courses galore, oceanfront parks, and even state parks nearby for nature lovers. Myrtle Beach truly offers a perfect blend of relaxation and excitement. I hope these tips help you create your own wonderful memories on your next visit to this beautiful part of South Carolina!
