Hair Refresh

Y’all I am so bad at keeping up with my hair color. Usually I just get blonde highlights (which I may or may not have waited like 8 months to get them redone😳) but I wanted a little something different!

What I asked for:

-kinda low maintenance

-dimensional blonde with lowlights slightly darker than my natural hair to help with grow out

-long layers with a little bit of face framing

-blonde / brightness around my face

My girl Holly crushed it 🎀💖🤌🏼✨

But let's be real, maintaining that salon-fresh look between appointments can be a challenge. Especially for those of us with wavy or curly blonde hair, the dreaded 'day 2' (or even 'day 3') can feel like a whole different beast. Luckily, I've picked up some amazing tricks to help revive your hair, keeping it looking fabulous long after you leave the salon. First, let's talk about how to refresh those beautiful curls and waves on day 2 without washing. My absolute go-to method involves a simple spritz bottle. I fill it with mostly water and a tiny bit of my favorite leave-in conditioner – just a pea-sized amount. Lightly mist your hair, focusing on areas that have lost definition or look a bit frizzy. Don't drench it! Then, gently scrunch your hair upwards towards your scalp. This helps reactivate your curl pattern and brings back some bounce. If you have time, using a diffuser on a low heat setting can work wonders to redefine those waves and add volume without disturbing the hair too much. Another game-changer for me has been pineappling my hair at night. This is where you gather all your hair into a loose, high ponytail on top of your head, securing it with a soft scrunchie. It keeps your curls from getting squashed while you sleep. Pair this with a silk pillowcase, and you'll wake up to much less frizz and more defined waves. It truly makes a difference in preserving your dimensional blonde highlights and the overall style, especially for long layers like mine, which can sometimes lose their shape overnight. For those moments when your roots are starting to feel a little oily but your ends are still looking fresh, dry shampoo is your best friend. A quick spray at the roots, gently massaged in, can absorb excess oil and add instant volume. Just be mindful not to overuse it, as it can build up. If you have blonde hair like me, there are even tinted dry shampoos that can help blend in and prevent any white residue. If your hair is just looking a bit lacklustre, a quick shot of shine spray can instantly bring back that salon luminosity. For us blondes, protecting our highlights from environmental damage is also key to maintaining that vibrant color. A UV protectant spray can be a great addition to your routine, especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors. Remember, the goal is to enhance and revive, not to completely restyle every day. These little refresh rituals are all about making your wavy blonde hair feel as good as it did when you first got that hair coloring process close up result. With a few simple steps, you can extend the life of your salon treatment and keep feeling confident about your look, even on those busy second, third, or fourth days!
