Best Luau on Kauai, Hawaii
Smith Family Luau is must do activity on Kauai. The luau is owned and operated by a local family. The luau includes a tour of the Smith Family gardens, buffet of local dishes, free drinks, and a show featuring a variety of dances from the pacific.
When you first arrive, they take you around, on a shuttle, to see all the whole garden. Afterwards you can walk around and take pictures. This was one of three most beautiful gardens I’ve ever been to. It’s a huge added bonus for the luau.
Once the luau begins, you can take a seat in the pavilion for dinner. The food is all you can eat and they have tons of local dishes to try. They had juicy kalua pork, poi, guava sweet bread, and so many other delicious choices. They also had incredible desserts like haupia and coconut cake. They also have unlimited drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Everything we ate was delicious and we were absolutely stuffed.
The last part of the evening includes a show. They perform traditional and modern dances inspired by the different cultures that have created modern Hawaii. There was Polynesian dances from Hawaii, Tahiti, and Maori. They also included dances from the Philippines and Japan as many have immigrated from those countries to Hawaii. All of the performers were talented and put on an amazing performance.
This luau was the best I have been to in Hawaii. It’s also owned and operated by Kauai locals, so it’s a great opportunity to support a local business.
