Experience Island Living on Bainbridge Island
Bainbridge Island is a cute island just a short ferry ride away from downtown Seattle. The island isn’t huge, but there is a lot to explore. Here was how we spend a day on the island.
♦️Proper Fish - This restaurant serves up authentic UK style fish and chips. The fish is super crispy and their fries are delicious. I also love their tartar sauce. The portions are quite large here as well.
♦️Pegasus Coffee House - This cafe serves delicious drinks. I love their lattes, but they serve a variety of other tasty drinks.
♦️Bloedel Reserve - The Bloedel Reserve is an old private mansion that has since been turned into a nature preserve. The last owner of the home turned some of the land into gardens and kept other sections natural forests. You can go around the trail and explore these different areas. You start out in the forest and see many native plants. Next, you’ll move onto some of the planned gardens including a European style garden and a Japanese garden. It took about 2 hours to explore everything. It was well worth it. The whole preserve is absolutely gorgeous.
♦️The Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial - This a powerful memorial to all who were taken from the island during WW2 due to their Japanese heritage. The memorial reminds us of the pain they went through, but also how they persevered through the struggle.
