🍳Sunday morning breakfast: Let’s Chat🍳
Good morning and happy Sunday!
I know I haven’t posted much this week. School, work, and life has kept me busy. However, in the midst of all the chaos, the one thing that I have continued with is our dinner/breakfast traditions.
Every weekend, I make a nice big breakfast for my family. It might be pancakes, waffles, biscuits, or toast. I always make sure to include bacon or sausage and eggs of some kind. Sometimes though, all I want is to just skip breakfast and lay in bed. I wanna say figure it out yourself this morning. But I don’t. Why you might ask?
Because nothing makes me happier than hearing my kids saying thank you mama and sitting around the table talking about how we slept, what we are excited for, and just hearing the stories from the week that haven’t made it to the dinner table. It is the highlight of my weekend. I also pet the kids help decide what we will eat for dinner that night and find ways to include them in the weeks menu as well.
What is a tradition that you have with your family? What’s part of your routine that you wouldn’t trade for anything?

I completely resonate with the feeling of those cherished Sunday mornings. It’s amazing how a simple ritual like a family breakfast can anchor our week and bring so much joy, even when life gets hectic. For me, these moments aren't just about sharing a meal; they're about building a foundation of connection and creating memories that truly last. It’s a dedicated time when we can truly unplug from the demands of school, work, and the outside world, and just be present with each other. This uninterrupted time around the table is something I look forward to all week. Sometimes, it’s tempting to hit snooze or rush through the morning, especially when we've had a busy Saturday. But I’ve found that intentionally carving out this 'leisurely Sunday morning' space makes all the difference. It's our time to truly unwind and reconnect. We often find ourselves reflecting on past days, sharing funny anecdotes, or even discussing small challenges from the week before diving into a new one. I love hearing everyone’s perspectives, whether it's about school, work, or just what made them smile. These conversations, often sparked over a second cup of coffee, are what truly enrich our family bond. If you're thinking of starting your own Sunday breakfast tradition, don't feel like it has to be gourmet every single time! My go-to often involves easy options like fluffy pancakes or quick scrambled eggs. Sometimes, just seeing that bacon sizzling in the pan on a stove, or the kettle whistling for a fresh brew, sets the perfect cozy mood without much fuss. A little prep on Saturday night, like chopping fruit or mixing dry pancake ingredients, can make Sunday morning feel even more relaxed. I often delegate tasks, so one person might be setting the table while another is watching the bacon cook to crispy perfection, or laying out paper towels for draining. It makes everyone feel involved. To encourage those heartfelt chats and reflections, we sometimes use simple prompts. Instead of just 'how was your week?', we might ask: 'What was the funniest thing that happened?', 'What's one thing you learned?', or 'What are you looking forward to next week?' It opens up deeper conversations and helps everyone feel heard. It’s not always profound, but the simple act of listening attentively while enjoying our breakfast together is what truly matters. This routine is truly a gem, reminding us to slow down and cherish the people right in front of us. It’s incredible how these small traditions shape our family life and provide a sense of stability and love, giving us a positive start to the new week.
