How Much We Really Save as Target Employees?🎯

Working at Target comes with some seriously underrated perks — and the employee discount is one of the best. Most people think it’s just 10%, but after 7+ years I’ve learned how to stack it the right way… and yes, I’ve gotten almost HALF off an entire purchase before. 🤑❤️

💡 My savings system:

• Start with your 10% employee discount — this works on almost everything.

• Stack Target Circle offers (both category & item-specific).

• Add manufacturer coupons when available — yup, they still stack!

• Use your extra 20% wellness discount on beauty, OTC, and personal care when you need a bigger haul.

• Pay with your RedCard for that additional 5% off at the end.

✨ Why it works:

All of these discounts layer on top of each other, which is why there have been times I’ve walked out with nearly 50% off my whole purchase. Love being a Target employee, honestly. 🙌

🎯 Career takeaway:

Learning how company perks work — and maximizing them — is such an underrated career skill. If a benefit exists, use it to your advantage!

💬 Question:

What’s the biggest discount or deal you’ve ever gotten at work? Or if you’re a Target shopper — what’s your best savings moment?

... Read moreWhen I first started working at Target, I, like many others, thought the employee discount was just a simple 10%. But over the years, I've really dug deep into the system and discovered just how much more you can truly save. It's not just about getting a small percentage off; it's about strategically combining every possible discount to make your paycheck stretch further. For instance, that initial 10% employee discount is a solid foundation. It applies to most general merchandise, from clothing and home goods to groceries. However, it's good to remember some exclusions, like gift cards, alcohol, and certain services, which are pretty standard across most retail employee discounts. Knowing these limitations helps you plan your purchases better. The real magic happens when you start layering. Target Circle is your best friend here. I always recommend checking the app regularly for new offers. They rotate weekly, and you'll find both category-specific deals (like 20% off all bedding) and item-specific savings (e.g., $2 off a particular brand of yogurt). Crucially, these stack on top of your employee discount. Don't forget to add your birthday to your Target Circle profile! Every year, around your birthday, Target typically offers an extra 5% or 10% off a single purchase, which is fantastic when combined with everything else. I always save up my bigger purchases for that time. Manufacturer coupons are another often-overlooked goldmine. Many people assume they won't stack with other discounts, but at Target, they often do! Whether you find them in the Sunday newspaper inserts, print them online, or use digital coupons through apps, these can shave off even more from your total. The key is that they usually apply before the RedCard discount, allowing for maximum savings. Then there's the specific 20% wellness discount on beauty, over-the-counter (OTC) medications, and personal care items. This is a huge bonus for everyday essentials. Think about all those toiletries, skincare products, and cold remedies you buy – getting an extra 20% off on these can amount to significant savings over time. I found myself stocking up on my favorites during these periods, knowing I was getting a fantastic deal. Finally, the RedCard isn't just about an instant 5% off at checkout; it's the ultimate cherry on top. This additional 5% comes after all your other discounts have been applied, effectively lowering your grand total even further. Plus, RedCard holders often get free shipping on most online orders, which saves you money and hassle. By consistently applying these steps – 10% employee discount, Target Circle offers (including that great birthday discount!), manufacturer coupons, the 20% wellness perk, and the 5% RedCard – you truly can walk out of Target having saved a substantial amount, often approaching or even exceeding 50% on your total purchase. It’s not just a rumor; it’s a strategy that has consistently worked for me for years. Happy saving!

Walmart also gives a 10% discount what they don’t have are sales like the ones you have with the target circle you are so lucky. I would want to join target but do they give you that extra 15% discount during holidays?
