Peasant’s Feast!
Welcome to my monthly hangout series!
In July, we hosted “renfaire at home” aka The Peasant’s Feast!
Decor was mostly the table scape, with thrifted finds to bring in the wood and earthy tones.
We made the banners out of paper and just taped them together. They were cheap and simple but added a lot of impact! Make sure to plan extra time if you want to make some.
We served a meal inspired by the Medieval Times menu! Rotisserie chicken, tomato soup, mini potatoes, corn on the cob, and beignets.
Don’t forget to set the mood with some medieval music and lighting!
This was a fun night, and wasn’t too hard to pull together on a tight budget and time frame. We will definitely be using this one again next summer!
Hosting a Peasant’s Feast at home can be a rewarding and creative way to gather with friends or family. From my experience, focusing on simple yet effective DIY décor like thrifted wood elements and hand-made paper banners really sets the scene without spending a fortune. The key is to embrace natural textures and earthy tones for an authentic medieval vibe. For the menu, rotisserie chicken provides a hearty main dish that's both easy to prepare and budget-friendly. Pairing it with sides like tomato soup, mini potatoes, and corn on the cob keeps the meal rustic and satisfying while offering variety. Including beignets as a treat is a fun nod to classic desserts, adding sweetness to the feast. Music selection is just as important as the food and decorations. Medieval tunes create ambiance and transport guests back in time. Candlelight or soft, warm lighting completes the atmosphere, making your home feel cozy and inviting. Planning ahead is crucial, especially for making banners or other handmade decorations, so be sure to allot extra time to avoid last-minute rushes. This kind of themed feast not only encourages creativity but also strengthens connections, turning an ordinary summer night into a memorable experience. Overall, the Peasant’s Feast is an easy-to-execute way to enjoy thematic hosting with minimal stress and cost. I highly recommend trying this concept for your next gathering, and I’m looking forward to hosting it again myself!
