... Read moreHey everyone! So many of you have asked me about how to get that bright, open-eyed look that just makes you seem more awake and refreshed – you know, that effortlessly chic vibe often seen on celebs like Kate Hudson. While I'm sharing my own everyday routine, I totally get wanting to incorporate elements that give you that radiant, wide-eyed effect. It's all about enhancing your natural beauty, which is what my simple steps aim for!
When I'm doing my everyday look, the eyes are definitely a focus for making me feel put-together and confident. After my concealer goes on (and trust me, a good, light-reflecting concealer is key for brightening up those under-eye circles!), I move straight to mascara. For a really open look, I love to wiggle the mascara wand right at the base of my lashes and then pull upwards towards the tips. I focus a bit more on the outer lashes to create a fanned-out effect. Usually, two coats do the trick for lift and definition without looking clumpy or heavy. If you want even more flutter and curl, a good curling mascara can make a huge difference, especially if your lashes tend to be straight.
Another game-changer for me is highlighter, especially around the eyes. As you saw in my basic steps, I always add a tiny dab to the inner corners of my eyes. This instantly brightens and opens them up, making you look more alert and less tired. A little bit on the brow bone just under your eyebrow arch also helps to lift and define the eye area, creating a beautiful, subtle frame for your eyes. I usually opt for a subtle, champagne-toned or pearlescent highlighter for this, avoiding anything too glittery which can actually emphasize texture.
Beyond what I've shown in my quick routine, a few other tricks can really amplify that bright-eyed effect. Don't underestimate the power of well-groomed eyebrows! Filling them in subtly with a pencil or powder to match your natural hair color, and keeping them tidy, can frame your face beautifully and draw even more attention to your eyes. For an extra pop, sometimes I use a nude or white eyeliner pencil on my lower waterline – it makes your eyes look bigger and brighter instantly, almost like magic! Trust me, it's a subtle but powerful hack for a wide-awake look.
And remember, makeup is only one part of the equation! Hydration plays a big role too. Drinking enough water throughout the day and using a good quality eye cream can significantly reduce puffiness and dark circles over time, giving you a fresh, smooth canvas for your makeup. Also, getting enough sleep is crucial – sometimes no amount of concealer can hide a truly sleepless night! Finally, choosing eyeshadows in lighter, neutral tones can also contribute to an open, airy feel for your eyes, especially if you blend a slightly darker shade into the crease for definition. Ultimately, it's about finding what makes your eyes sparkle and feel beautiful, whether you're going for a full glam look or just enhancing your everyday glow. What are your go-to tips for achieving bright, captivating eyes? I'd love to hear them!
