Cali, thank you. You taught me a valuable lesson.
The most important travel recommendation I can offer is NEVER travel with a stranger.
I went to Cali on a whim. I had just celebrated graduating in New Orleans and had recently met a guy that I thought was interesting and unique. When we got to Cali, he changed. He was rude, confrontational, and so clearly not the person for me. At one point, the sun was setting and I tried to connect with him through a common human appreciation for a beautiful gold and pink sunset, laid across the hills. He replied, “Sunsets just don’t do it for me.” I did not understand why he thought the sunset had to do something for him to appreciate its undeniable beauty. I came home and never spoke to him again. So, thank you Cali for your sunsets and your humbling lessons. #travel #travelrecommendations
Traveling can be a profound experience, filled with lessons that shape our perspectives. One of the most crucial lessons is about the company we choose. The narrative of encountering a rude companion in a beautiful destination underscores the significance of compatibility. When planning your travels, consider shared values and interests, as these traits often lead to a more enjoyable experience. Engaging with nature, like appreciating a sunset, can be made more meaningful when shared with likeminded individuals. Furthermore, research indicates that travel experiences can deeply affect our emotional wellbeing. Hence, ensuring that you travel with someone who appreciates the journey can transform any trip. To enhance your travels, focus on your travel companions and your shared adventures, ensuring that your experiences bring joy and comfort rather than discomfort and confrontation. Ultimately, every travel tale has lessons that can guide future adventures.
