Unedited vs Edited Pics ✨

I love comparing unedited vs edited pictures. 💗

It’s amazing what technology can do now. These are simple edits I did of my girls from our beach vacay this week, ALL from my phone! 📱

I wish I had the time and dedication to truly pursue photography. 📸

Read moreIt's truly incredible how just a few tweaks can transform an unedited photo into something truly magical, especially when you're trying to capture those precious memories from a beach vacation! I often find myself comparing edited vs unedited photos and am always amazed by the difference. For me, editing isn't about changing reality, but about bringing out the true beauty and emotion I felt in that moment. Sometimes, the lighting on the sandy beach isn't perfect, or the ocean blues don't quite show up as vibrant colors as they did to my blue eyes in person. That's where a little phone magic comes in! You don't need fancy software or a professional camera to make your unedited images shine. I do all my photo transformation right on my phone, and it’s surprisingly simple! Here’s a peek into my go-to process to get those enhanced colors and make my unedited photos pop: First, I always start with Exposure and Brightness. Overcast days can make even the most beautiful palm tree or cloudy sky look dull. A slight bump in exposure can instantly brighten up a dark unedited photo, revealing details you might have missed. Then, I look at Color Correction. Beach scenes, especially, benefit from this. To make the ocean blues more intense or a pink top worn by one of my girls more striking, I often adjust saturation and vibrance. Sometimes, the white balance needs a small tweak to remove any unwanted yellow or blue tint from the wet sand or the water's edge, making skin tones look more natural. Next up is Contrast, Highlights, and Shadows. These are crucial for adding depth to your edited photos. Increasing contrast can make a tie-dye dress pop against the sandy beach, while carefully adjusting highlights and shadows can bring out the texture in the white sun hat or the details in the waves. I’m always careful not to crush the shadows or blow out the highlights too much; it’s a delicate balance. Finally, a touch of Sharpening can make a huge difference. Just a tiny bit can make the blue eyes of a baby sparkle or define the edges of a floral swimsuit without making the photo look artificial. I also do quick Cropping and Straightening if needed. A slightly crooked horizon line in an unedited image can be distracting, and cropping can help focus attention on the subject, whether it's a child playing near the water's edge or a majestic palm tree. My favorite aspect of using phone apps for editing is how intuitive they are. Many have built-in filters that can give you a great starting point, but I prefer to do manual adjustments to ensure the photo truly reflects my vision. The biggest tip I can give is balance. It’s easy to get carried away and over-edit, leading to an image that looks unnatural. My aim is always to enhance, not to invent. I want the edited photo to still feel authentic to the moment, just a more polished version. The goal is to make those vibrant colors and beautiful moments truly stand out, without losing the original charm of the unedited photos. Ultimately, whether you prefer an unedited photo or an edited photo is completely up to you! Some people love the raw, authentic feel of unedited images, and there's absolute beauty in that. Others, like me, enjoy the creative process of photo transformation and seeing how much potential lies hidden within each snapshot. So, next time you're looking through your unedited images, don't be afraid to experiment with some simple phone edits. You might be surprised at the stunning photo transformation you can achieve!
