Getting old be likeeee
Today was simply about doing what felt good!
Why?
Because at this point my body feels like it needs a break lmaoo
I pulled something in my back and my knee is being a little sensitive...all on top of this glute tear that isn't healing 😢 😭
I could of still weight trained but at this point I'm afraid fr 😅 I already told ya'll back pain is no joke...I can work through the glute tear but I've been trying to be extra gentle with my back...it literally hurts to sneeze at this moment so I ain't even about to play with myself like that
I haven't had an RA flare in a while so I'm gonna chalk this up to bad form while lifting heavy...orrrr getting old lmaooo...either way...the goal is to never stop moving...even when dealing with injuries...
So I did an extended yoga/stretch session before cardio and literally just did poses that felt good for my body...sometimes listening to our bodies is best.
I'm sure tomorrow will be another light day so that I can do be ready for full body Friday! We will see though...either way I'm showing up with something 😆
HAPPY HUMP DAY FAM #namaste
As we age, our bodies naturally require more attention and care, especially when injuries or chronic conditions like RA (rheumatoid arthritis) come into play. I’ve found that one of the most important lessons in managing these physical challenges is learning to truly listen to our body’s signals. Recently, I experienced a combination of back pain, a sensitive knee, and a persistent glute tear – all which impacted my usual workout routine. Instead of pushing through pain, I shifted my focus to gentler activities, like an extended yoga and stretch session. These moments of mindful movement not only help in maintaining mobility but also support recovery by increasing blood flow and reducing stiffness. Yoga poses that specifically target areas of discomfort can provide immediate relief and promote healing over time. For example, gentle spinal twists can ease back tension, while hip-opening poses improve glute flexibility. Another key insight is the importance of modifying exercise intensity. Weight training can be beneficial for strength but must be approached carefully to avoid injury flare-ups, especially if proper form is compromised. It's wise to prioritize low-impact cardio and restorative practices on tough days. This approach also helps maintain consistency, which is crucial. Even on days when full workouts aren’t possible, showing up with something—whether it’s light stretching or a brisk walk—keeps momentum going. Ultimately, the goal is to remain active while respecting the body’s current limits, adapting routines as needed, and never feeling guilty about taking a break. A big part of aging gracefully is accepting that healing takes time and that setbacks don’t mean failure. They’re simply signals to adjust and be kinder to ourselves. So, if you find yourself dealing with aches, pains, or injuries, consider incorporating soothing activities like yoga, paying closer attention to your body’s feelings, and giving yourself permission to rest. This mindful balance between movement and recovery is key to sustained wellbeing and enjoying your fitness journey for years to come.
