Visiting Lyell Deer Sanctuary is truly a unique experience that combines the joy of seeing friendly deer with the important mission of wildlife rescue. The sanctuary not only provides a safe haven for deer but also educates visitors about animal care and conservation. I found the setting peaceful and the staff approachable, making it easy to learn more about the animals and their rehabilitation process. For families, the park’s layout is stroller-friendly and safe for little ones, which makes it an enjoyable outing without stress. Along with feeding and observing the deer, there are spots to relax and enjoy a picnic, turning your visit into a full day adventure. The sanctuary’s location in Mount Samson adds to the charm, tucked away in the lush Moreton Bay area. On a hot day, I recommend bringing water and sun protection, but thankfully, shaded areas provide relief. The affordable ticket prices ($10 adults, $5 kids) let you spend more time exploring the sanctuary and surrounding nature. Plus, weekends are best as the park is only open on Saturdays and Sundays between 10am and 4pm. If you’re traveling from Brisbane, it’s a straightforward 50-minute drive that makes for a refreshing escape from the city hustle. I’ll be sharing a video soon on my social page @thingstodoqueensland to show more highlights of this charming deer park. Overall, Lyell Deer Sanctuary is a hidden gem for animal lovers and anyone looking for a relaxing day close to nature.
