Are we blind buying perfume?!!!! 😳
When I step into Sephora or Ulta, I immediately want to run with my eyes & nose closed straight out the door from all the scents meshed into one!
And I just don’t really enjoy in person shopping overall, but I neeed to know the smell of what I’m buying before actually committing!
The travel size or test trial scents are almost as expensive as the full size perfumes🫩 (mind you, I’ll spend on a scent once I enjoy the hell out of it); but be for real now…
It’s fun when I can find a mini on Amazon or elsewhere before fully committing now, but I don’t always get lucky because I don’t typically go for the more main stream & or well known brands.
Shopping for perfume can feel overwhelming, especially in stores like Sephora and Ulta where dozens of fragrances blend together, making it hard to distinguish individual scents. Many shoppers find themselves frustrated by this sensory overload, unsure if they are buying their perfect fragrance or just settling for what's available. If you share this experience, you're not alone. One practical approach is to seek out travel-size or mini perfume sets before committing to a full bottle. These smaller versions offer the chance to test and enjoy a scent over time without the heavy investment. However, as noted, these minis can sometimes be nearly as costly as the full sizes, adding a layer of complication. An alternative is to explore online platforms like Amazon, where mini or sample sizes are often available, sometimes including unique or indie brands that aren’t as widely stocked in physical stores. It’s also worth prioritizing brands that align with your values. For instance, Pacifica offers 100% vegan and cruelty-free options such as the "Take Me There" mini perfume set with scents like Dream Island and Beach. These ethical choices provide peace of mind alongside enjoyable fragrances. When trying new perfumes in-store, avoid smelling too many back-to-back, which can desensitize your nose. Instead, test one scent at a time and allow your nose to rest by briefly smelling coffee beans or stepping outside. Using blotters instead of spraying directly on your skin can help as well. Additionally, remember that perfumes evolve through top, middle, and base notes over several hours, so a quick sniff may not give you the full picture. Lastly, engaging with online fragrance communities, such as #perfumeaddict groups, can offer recommendations and real-life reviews that inform your choices and minimize blind buys. Sharing experiences and discovering less mainstream fragrances can enhance your enjoyment and confidence in selecting the scents that truly resonate with you.
