Am I Too Old For Santa?
I love my dad, but he's made some bad and questionable financial decisions the past couple years. And now, 2 years later, we couldn't afford much for Christmas. He got me 2 things off Temu and my sister got me 3 things off my amazon wishlist, and I decided to buy my own gifts. I'm 19, almost 20, and haven't had a Santa gift in 2 years. It feels like everyone just stopped with Santa and Christmas when I turned 17.
I love my dad, but it feels like he just gave up on holidays 2 years ago. I am aware he cannot afford much right now, and I am eternally grateful I even got anything this year, I just wish it was something I asked for. So, I bought my own Santa gifts.
All the presents I've bought for myself, 3, cost $45 total.

As we grow older, the holidays can feel different, especially as financial priorities shift. Many young adults experience a similar transition, feeling that the magic of Santa diminishes as they reach adulthood. It's important to remember that the holiday spirit can still be embraced in various forms, from budgeting for gifts to creating new traditions. Buying gifts for oneself, as I did, reflects self-love and acknowledging one's desires, even during tough times. Discussing financial realities with family can often lead to understanding and support. Also, consider how your childhood memories of Santa can transform into meaningful adult experiences. You might find joy in giving to others or participating in community events that embody the season. Ultimately, it's about the love and connection we foster during these festive times, regardless of age.
