Gunner 🐾
When I was 17 years old and 7 months pregnant, I walked into a puppy store and saw this sweet little German shepherd puppy. He looked up at me with his soulful eyes, and I knew from that moment he was meant to be with me.
We drove home, and I was completely clueless on how to care for or train this little puppy. But he laid his head on my lap, and somehow I knew we were going to figure it out. From that moment on, and every day after that, we were together.
A few months later, when I brought my daughter home from the hospital, he was there waiting. Always watching, always ready, to protect us, to make us laugh, and to comfort me during some really hard times.
When I brought my second daughter home, he laid right next to her bassinet every single night. And the same for the boys, from the moment we brought them home, he knew it was his job to look after them.
Gunner was a special kind of dog. The kind that changes your life for the better. The kind that comforts you when you’re sad and somehow always knows exactly what you need.
He lived a long, happy life,full of chasing balls, hiking, camping, protecting the ones he loved, and so many snuggles.
