Help me with my skincare routine!
Hi! I’m 26 and I’ve struggled with acne for as long as I can remember and it seems to only get worse each year. This is my current routine!
Am:
- La Roche-Posay Effaclar medicated gel cleaner (2% salicylic acid)
- e11ement Hypochlorous Acid Face and Skin Spray
- Peach Slices Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner
- La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (5.5% benzoyl peroxide) [I really only use this on my nose and upper cheeks and chin where I’m more prone to acne]
- Bubble cloud surf water cream moisturizer
- Hero Cosmetics Everyday SPF 30
Pm:
- La Roche-Posay Effaclar medicated gel cleaner (2% salicylic acid)
- La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Facial Cleanser [I usually only use this to get my mascara off completely]
- e11ement Hypochlorous Acid Face and Skin Spray
- La Roche-Posay Effaclar Clarifying Solution Toner (0.5% salicylic acid & 2% glycolic acid)
- La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (5.5% benzoyl peroxide) [I really only use this on my nose and upper cheeks and chin where I’m more prone to acne]
- Bubble cloud surf water cream moisturizer or Bubble Slam Dunk Hydrating moisturizer
- Bio-Oil vitamin E oil
- La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm B5 [Vitamin e oil before really helps this balm spread on the skin]
I use pimple patches often because I tend to pick at my face. The microdot patches really help with any pop up cystic acne. And I really love the Peach Slices snail rescue mask.
My questions are more for the new products I want to add.
- Topical Faded serum: I just got this and have only used it once a because the packaging says to use once a week for a while to get your skin use to it. I also know it said not to use with other activities on the skin so I’m wondering how I can incorporate it into my routine.
- La Roche-Posay tinted sunscreen: I don’t usually wear makeup but I would like something for this summer or vacations and I love that it’s spf 50.
- Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Refreshing Pore Mask: I’ve seen some good reviews of this face mask. I feel like I need something for my pores on my nose and cheeks.

Establishing an effective skincare routine is crucial, especially for individuals battling acne. Start by ensuring you understand your skin type, as this will guide your product selection. For many, salicylic acid is a hero ingredient, like in the La Roche-Posay Effaclar gel cleaner, as it helps to unclog pores and reduce breakouts. When introducing new products such as the Topicals Faded serum, consult the packaging for usage instructions—often, it’s wise to introduce one new product at a time to monitor reactions. Sunscreen should always be a daily staple, especially if you're using products that increase sun sensitivity, like glycolic acid or benzoyl peroxide. The La Roche-Posay tinted sunscreen is an excellent choice that offers SPF 50 protection while providing a hint of coverage. Incorporating hydrating products, like the Bubble Cloud Water Cream, can also balance your routine; this is particularly important for preventing dryness that can often accompany acne treatments. Consider adding skincare products that focus on pore refinement, such as the Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Pore Mask, which helps to tighten and clarify skin. Remember that consistency is vital in any skincare journey, and utilizing pimple patches for on-the-spot treatment can effectively manage unexpected flare-ups. Additionally, keeping track of how your skin reacts to various products can help you fine-tune your routine for the best results.

Hey Allison! I understand the frustration with stubborn acne. I had cystic acne in the past and found that the cause was overuse of products and switching to products when I didn't see an immediate change. I would be happy to chat and share recommendations of what's helped me! Let me know if you are interested:)
