going on a walk

well, today didn’t quite go as well as i was hoping. i’ve been doing really good on my eating and today was definitely an off day. we went to my favorite restaurant after church and i just can’t seem to hold back when i eat there. because of this, i struggled with eating at dinner too and overate a little bit. it seems as though when i overeat for one meal i mess up the rest of the day. tomorrow is still a new day though, and i hope to improve and get back on track. to end the night however, me and hannah and kitty went for a walk! it was a nice way to get moving and end the day on a positive note.

... Read moreWe all have those days, don't we? Days where our eating habits don't quite go as planned, and we might find ourselves feeling a little heavy, guilty, or just plain off. It's so easy to let one slip-up derail the entire day, impacting our mood and motivation. I've definitely been there, feeling that immediate regret after a meal that was just a bit too much. But instead of letting that feeling spiral into a negative cycle, I've discovered a simple yet incredibly powerful tool to help me reset: a post-meal walk outdoors. It's not about 'punishing' yourself or trying to 'burn off' calories. For me, it's about a gentle shift in my physical and mental state. Scientifically speaking, walking after eating can do wonders for digestion. It helps to stimulate your digestive system, which can ease bloating and aid in nutrient absorption. Plus, studies suggest that even a short, leisurely walk can help regulate blood sugar levels, preventing those sharp spikes and crashes that often leave us feeling tired and craving more unhealthy snacks later. Beyond the physical benefits, the mental clarity I gain from stepping outside is immense. When I'm feeling down about my food choices, a breath of fresh air and some gentle movement instantly lift my spirits. It's a chance to clear my head, practice a bit of self-compassion, and remind myself that one meal doesn't define my entire health journey. Walking with my furry companion, Kitty, makes it even better – her enthusiasm for the outdoors is infectious! We often explore local paths, and it’s wonderful to just observe the simple beauty around, like the various plants and sometimes even little clusters of berries growing on the bushes. If you're looking to incorporate post-meal walks into your routine, here are a few tips based on my own experience: Start Small: Don't feel pressured to go for a marathon. Even a 10-15 minute stroll around your block is incredibly beneficial. The key is consistency, not intensity. Listen to Your Body: This isn't a workout; it's mindful movement. Walk at a comfortable pace that feels good for your digestion and energy levels. Make it a Ritual: Try to schedule your walk for roughly the same time each day, perhaps after dinner. It helps create a positive habit that your body and mind will come to expect. Embrace the Outdoors: Even if it's just a small urban park, being outside connects you with nature. The fresh air and natural light can significantly boost your mood. Bring a friend or your pet if that motivates you! Mindful Movement: Instead of thinking about what you ate, focus on your surroundings. Notice the sounds, the smells, the changing scenery. This mindfulness can help reduce stress and improve your overall well-being. Remember, our wellness journeys are filled with ups and downs. The goal isn't perfection, but rather consistent efforts to care for ourselves, even on those 'off' days. A simple walk can be a powerful step towards feeling better, both inside and out. Let's keep moving forward, one step at a time!

Who’s ready to walk that walk???
You know that feeling when you lose weight and feel like you can conquer the world? I miss that. So I’m pushing myself to feel that way again. It’s time to put on my big girl’s shoes and get moving. Time for more action, less talking🤦‍♀️. Progress isn’t always visible, but that doesn’t mean it’s no

Tips for a good walk/ run ! 🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️🎵
I’ve always kind of hated running or walking just because. But! I’ve found some things to keep me motivated! 1. Wear something cute when you go. You’re more likely to go if you feel good about yourself. 2. Pick areas that either you like, never explored, or somewhere that holds memories. I’ve don
