My pet peeve working in Marketing
Let’s talk about a marketing pet peeve of mine. I love my job, and I really do enjoy event season, but summer in the marketing world means one thing — chaos. Not the “fun kind” of chaos either. I’m talking about boxes everywhere, carts stacked with signs, giveaway items, pop-up tents, and mystery cords that nobody remembers packing.
The hall outside my office turns into a full-blown storage unit. My coworkers and I are basically navigating an obstacle course every day just to get to our desks. It’s like a behind-the-scenes peek at how much work goes into every community event, except this version has less glamour and more tripping hazards.
The only thing that stays clean is my computer, and that’s because I draw the line there. Do not touch the keyboard zone. The floor under my desk? A whole other story. It’s probably hiding three event kits, a tote bag or two, and maybe a snack I forgot about.
So yes, summer marketing is exciting, fast-paced, and filled with great community moments, but if you ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes — just imagine working in the middle of a well-organized mess, and you’ve got the idea.
Anyone else in marketing feel this?
