THE MARSHALLS GHOST
I worked retail for 9 years, 7 of those years was with the TJX company and 3 of those years was at Marshall’s specifically.
Orientation when as normal, boring videos, walk through of the store, introductions with management and team members, name tag, AIN, all of the usual stuff.
Right as I was finishing up the last of my paperwork my manger goes “oh yea, I forgot to tell you about the ghost.”. I of course laughed, cause he was joking, right? NOPE! The man was DEAD serious! He said “he’s friendly, I’m pretty sure he’s here from the last store that was in the spot, he’s always been here, he just likes to mess around with people.”. I told him that I didn’t believe in ghosts and his response was “you stay her long enough you will.”.
Fast forward a few months, I am on closing shift, there’s 5 people in the store and 4 of them are in the stock room and the office, I’m cleaning up the floor when all of the sudden a purse gets thrown across the store behind me, I turn around to find out who’s there and see no one, I pick up the purse, walk it back to its original shelf and call my manager over the head set,
Me: “hey, who’s on the floor with me right now?”
Manager:”just you!”
Me: “Nope! Someone just threw a purse across the store.”
Manager: “do you see anyone?”
Me: “Nope! But it didn’t just fall, it flew from the purses halfway through the women’s department.”
Manager: “told you we had a ghost!”
I still didn’t FULLY believe him, until one day I was at the store next door, it was a strip mall, so all of the stores were apart of the same building.
It was just me, the manager and one associate in there, we were up at the registers talking when all of the sudden a purse FLEW across the store behind me! I turned and looked at the manager confused? She responded without hesitation. “Oh! That’s just the ghost, he’s a weirdo!”. EXCUSE ME?!?! I told her about what had happened to me at Marshall’s and she believed me without question! She said “it’s quiet over here, we’re not as busy as Marshall’s, he hangs out here a lot and does weird stuff all the time!”.
So yea, apparently there’s a ghost that haunts the shopping center that I used to work at, he’s cool, he just likes to mess with people, I think he gets bored. Maybe he’s actually a she and she gets tired of being referred to as a he?
