... Read moreI recently dove into Taylor Adams' gripping thriller, "NO EXIT," and then immediately followed it up with the Hulu movie adaptation. As an avid thriller reader and movie watcher, I always find it fascinating to compare the two mediums, and this one offered plenty to discuss! The book, with its dark, atmospheric cover featuring a stark handprint, immediately drew me in. Adams is a master of suspense, and "NO EXIT" is no exception. The story follows Darby Thorne, a college student stranded at a remote mountain rest stop during a blizzard, who discovers a kidnapped girl in a van. The premise alone is enough to send shivers down your spine, and the relentless pacing makes it nearly impossible to put down. I found myself absolutely engrossed, trying to piece together the clues alongside Darby, even though there were moments I thought I knew what was coming. That final twist, though? It genuinely blindsided me, delivering a truly satisfying and chilling conclusion. Then came the movie. Knowing a Hulu adaptation was available, I had to see how my favorite scenes and the overall tension translated to the screen. While the film certainly captured the claustrophobic atmosphere and high stakes, there were, as expected, some differences from the book. Certain character nuances were altered, and the sequence of events saw minor adjustments to fit the cinematic format. However, the core intensity and the shocking revelation remained impactful. For those who prefer visual storytelling, the movie is a solid thriller that delivers on the suspense. If you're looking for where to stream the 'No Exit' movie, it's readily available on Hulu, making it an easy watch after finishing the book. From the book's detailed synopsis on its back cover to the critical acclaim often highlighted, it's clear why "NO EXIT" became such a popular psychological thriller. Taylor Adams has a knack for creating isolated, high-pressure situations that force his characters, and by extension, his readers, to confront their deepest fears. Whether you're a fan of heart-pounding reads or intense cinematic experiences, I’d highly recommend checking out both the book and the movie. They offer two distinct but equally thrilling journeys into a snowy, dangerous night where trust is a luxury no one can afford. Just be prepared for that ending – it'll stick with you!

I read the book and then watched the movie – both were intense! The book was way more detailed, but the movie did a great job of capturing the suspense.
