I did a big girl thing today
I’m 24 years old and I never really filled my own car tires. I would always ask my dad to do it. He always works so hard and comes home tired, so everytime I asked I felt bad but I was just always scared I would flatten my tire instead LOL. During thanksgiving I jokingly said to him that I need my car tire filled and my boyfriend said “why don’t you do it yourself?” And he wasn’t saying this in a mean way. He’s the sweetest bf ever. He was just genuinely asking me why can’t I do it myself and that got me thinking. I then said maybe he can do it for me but he also works so hard and at the end of the day sometimes all we wanna do is rest. So today I decided I’m going to do it. It should be easy doesn’t seem so complicated. And so I did it. I didn’t flatten my tire and now I don’t have low tire pressure warnings going off everyday. I would say this is a little win for me today :) #justagirl #car #ididit
For many young adults, simple tasks like filling car tires can feel daunting. However, gaining confidence in everyday responsibilities is crucial for personal growth. Not only does it promote self-sufficiency, but it also boosts your confidence. Learning to maintain your vehicle, from checking tire pressure to knowing when to change the oil, contributes to a greater sense of responsibility. Filling your tires is often seen as a basic skill, but for those who rely on others to do these tasks, it can represent a significant achievement. When tackling challenges, remember to embrace your fears—whether it's asking for help or jumping into a new responsibility headfirst. Many find support from family and friends, as seen in the author’s experience of growth with the encouragement of her boyfriend. His gentle nudge to embrace independence is relatable to anyone facing similar challenges. If you find tasks like these overwhelming, start small. Practice makes perfect, and every successful attempt adds to your confidence. Celebrate your wins, no matter how small—like finally filling up those tires! Remember, you're not alone; many are on the same journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
