Gluten & Dairy Free GROCERY HAUL

My gluten and dairy free groceries!

-Frozen: I like having a few things on hand that are quick and easy to make! I always have chicken and beef in the freezer as well. When I am cooking a meal with those it’s nice to have the veggies to pop in the microwave to have as a side! It’s also so nice to be able to have some chicken nuggets once in a while because it’s rare to have them gluten free!

-Refrigerated: I’ve been making turkey sandwiches to pack in my lunch lately, but it’s also nice to throw in some pepperoni and crackers! I also have eggs for breakfast most mornings to fill up before heading to school!

-Cupboard: I’ve been on a peanut butter ball kick lately…I use the oatmeal, honey, and chia seeds for those! I also love to have oatmeal with peanut butter and honey for breakfast. The rice is a cheap and easy side that I have with lots of my meals!

-Fun drink: I like to have some kind of flavored drink in the fridge for when I want something other than water! Bai is one of my favorites!

... Read moreSticking to a gluten and dairy-free diet can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when you're a college student trying to manage a budget. I've been there, and I know the struggle of wanting to eat healthy and safely without spending a fortune. That's why I'm always looking for smart ways to stock my fridge and pantry with delicious, compliant foods that won't empty my wallet. This isn't just about buying specific items; it's about having a strategy. One of my biggest tips for a successful gluten and dairy-free grocery haul is to prioritize versatile staples. Items like eggs are a lifesaver – I use them for quick breakfasts, or even a fast dinner scramble with some leftover veggies. Almondmilk is another must-have, perfect for oatmeal, smoothies, or just a refreshing drink. I always look for the store-brand or bettergoods options for these basics to save a few extra dollars without compromising quality. When it comes to grains, brown rice is incredibly cheap and can be paired with almost anything. It's a fantastic base for meals throughout the week. Frozen foods are a true game-changer for convenience and budget. I always keep a variety of frozen vegetables like steamable broccoli or cauliflower on hand. They're so easy to pop in the microwave and serve as a side, making any meal feel more complete. And let's talk about chicken nuggets! Finding good gluten-free chicken nuggets can be a challenge, but they're a quick, satisfying treat when you're craving something comforting. I've also found that frozen chicken fajitas with fire-roasted vegetables are fantastic for a super speedy and flavorful dinner. Having these options means I'm less likely to order takeout, which is a huge win for my budget. For pantry essentials, I stock up on things like oats for my morning oatmeal or for making my favorite peanut butter balls with honey and *chia seeds*. These homemade snacks are not only cheaper but also much healthier than store-bought alternatives. I also make sure to have ingredients for easy lunches. Sliced turkey breast and pepperoni, paired with some gluten-free crackers, make for a satisfying and quick mid-day meal. And for those moments when water just isn't cutting it, having a flavorful drink like a Bai (Ruby Raspberry or Lemon Lime are my favorites!) is a nice little pick-me-up that still offers antioxidants without too much sugar. Planning your meals around sales and what's in season can also make a huge difference. Don't be afraid to try different brands, especially generic ones, for things like rice, oats, and even some frozen items. It's all about finding what works for your taste buds and your budget. With a little planning and smart shopping, maintaining a delicious and healthy gluten and dairy-free diet in college is totally achievable!
