What’s in my bag on the go mom edition

As a full time basically single mom who works I’m on the go literally every day between working, toddler doctors appointments and appointments for my self I have to have a million things with me such as my purse, a diaper bag, sippy cup and my cup. These are some things I carry with me on a daily basis if I’m only going to be out and about for a couple hours.

1. Every day hair care- I’m a server and a hair stylist so I always need to make sure my hair looks nice so I always carry a brush, hair clips and hair ties with me sometimes coworkers at the restaurant I work at are in need of hair ties so I keep a handful of the in my grinch pouch.

2- toddler necessities- I always keep at least 1-2 diapers on hand in my purse with a pack of wipes. Also since it’s getting cold out side my toddler always has a runny nose so boogie wipes are a life saver being out and about and of course we have a couple of snacks as well to keep his little tummy full.

3-variety of lip products- with it being cold out side my lips need a little care too and I can never pick just one or two, I always keep multiple in my bag.

4-Hygiene- it always makes me happy to smell good being out of the house so I keep two travel size body sprays, winter candy apple from bath and body works is my all time favorite winter scent so I always have it with me, and the balancing body spray it lavender so when it’s stressful at work or being out with a fussy toddler I always spray a squirt or two on and it helps calm me right down, sanitizer because it’s cold season and I do not want to get my self or my toddler sick, and of course feminine products because that time of the month always sneaks up on me and I keep a little extra for when I’m working because working where every staff member is a female if you know you know, and deodorant, yes I use the me a old spice deodorant because no matter what brand of woman’s deodorant I use I have a reaction and this is the only one that doesn’t irritate my skin.

And last but not least

5-the extras- wallet, car key, Apple Watch, my Disney pandora bracelet and a pouch of pens, I always have pens in my bag because I’m always having to sign something between paycheck, appointment cards for clients, or paperwork at doctors appointments.

While having the right items is crucial, I've learned that how you pack them makes all the difference. Beyond the essentials I always keep, here are some of my top tips and extra items that truly make life easier when you're constantly on the move. Mastering the Art of Bag Organization (My Secret Weapon!) Having a million things in your bag doesn't mean it has to be a black hole! My number one trick is using smaller pouches to categorize everything. For instance, my hair care items like scrunchies, clips, and my trusty snowman-themed brush (which is adorable and practical!) all live together in a dedicated pouch—mine's a fun Grinch pouch, which always makes me smile. This prevents me from digging around when I need a quick hair fix. Similarly, all my hygiene items—like my travel body sprays and that leopard print pouch for feminine products—get their own space. It keeps everything neat and easily accessible, especially when I'm fumbling for something with a toddler on my hip or trying to be discreet. Tailoring Your Bag for Every Adventure (Big or Small) While my core items are always there, I slightly adjust my bag's contents depending on how long I'll be out or what we're doing. For quick errands or doctor's appointments, I'll stick to a couple of diapers, a small pack of wipes, and easily accessible snacks for my little one, like those cheddar crackers and mini muffins. These are lifesavers for preventing meltdowns! If I know we'll be out for several hours, say for a longer playdate or multiple appointments, I’ll add a few extras. This might include a small, quiet toy or a board book to keep my toddler entertained during waits. I also make sure I have an extra change of clothes for him – because you never know when a spill or an accident will happen! For myself, a compact umbrella if there's even a hint of rain, and maybe a small notebook and pen for jotting down thoughts or appointments, are invaluable. Beyond the Basics: My Personal Mom Hacks & Emergency Preps Over time, I've added a few non-negotiables that save me from constant headaches. First, a portable phone charger is a must-have. My mint green Apple Watch keeps me connected, but a dead phone is a real stressor, especially if I need to reach someone or use GPS. Second, I always carry a few extra plastic bags—they're perfect for wet clothes, trash, or even containing a sudden car sickness incident. Third, a small, basic first-aid kit with band-aids, antiseptic wipes, and a children's pain reliever has saved the day more times than I can count. And let's talk about staying fresh! Aside from my favorite body sprays, a fun sanitizer holder, like my gingerbread train one, makes me more likely to actually use the sanitizer regularly. It's a small thing, but it helps ward off germs during cold season. Ultimately, my goal is to feel prepared and confident, no matter what surprises the day throws my way. What are your absolute mom bag essentials that you can't live without?
