My top graphic novel of 2024
I read so many graphic novels this year! But which is the best? We’ll here it is (I have a few more recs on page three 🙂)

After falling head over heels for 'Bad Dream,' I realized how much I appreciate graphic novels that tackle complex themes in an accessible and engaging way for younger readers, and honestly, for anyone who loves a good story. My list of favorites, which includes gems like 'Heartstopper Volume 1,' 'Wash Day Diaries,' 'Starfire,' 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Lightning Thief,' 'Robin,' and 'Coven,' all bring something special to the table. 'Heartstopper' is, of course, a global phenomenon for its heartwarming queer romance and gentle storytelling, a perfect example of how graphic novels can explore love and acceptance. 'Percy Jackson' is a fantastic entry point for fantasy adventure lovers, proving that even epic tales can shine in graphic form with its own unique twist on a 'transforming companion' if you consider the mythological creatures! 'Wash Day Diaries' offers a beautifully intimate glimpse into the lives of Black women, celebrating everyday moments and sisterhood with incredible artistry. 'Starfire' and 'Robin' dive into the superhero genre but with deep character exploration and stunning action. And 'Coven' brings its own magical flair, often dealing with themes of belonging and power. Each of these offers a unique perspective and showcases the incredible breadth of the graphic novel medium.
