How he asked.. 🥹 & the nails I wish I had 💅🏻💍

More details in caption👇🏻👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏾💍

Okay so here’s the back story to why he proposed in the sand dunes. ✨

The day before he proposed he asked if I would want to go to bridal veil falls over the weekend. He has the worst poker face so I just knew that he was going to do it there. Especially because the last time we had gone I had said I would love to be proposed to somewhere like this. I called my sister that night and I was kind of sad because I didn’t care how cool the place was I just wanted it to be a surprise. After we hung up she called him and told him just do it wherever we are tomorrow, she just wants a surprise so just do it.

The next day he was taking a test and he was so excited about proposed he completely bombed it. He ran home and went and picked up the ring. He came over and said he was ready to go to the sand dunes. We were going there because I needed to take pictures for my photography class and he was the subject. He kept traveling deep into the dunes and wouldn’t hold still. It was freezing, and windy so I wanted to get the pictures and leave. He stopped and held me in his arms. He started saying all of the reasons why he loves me, and I didn’t think anything of it until he got on one knee. My mind was going a million miles per hour. He asked me to marry him and of course I said Yes! And he reached in his pocket and pulled out the ring he designed. I am still in love with it.

Up until that point in my life no one had been able to surprise me. Needless to say I was beyond surprised. Today marks our 5 year engagement anniversary. He really is my best friend and I wouldn’t want to do life with anyone else.

... Read moreWhile my incredible proposal story in the San Dunes is a cherished memory, looking back, there’s always that one detail I wish I could have perfected: my nails! It’s funny how, even after celebrating our five-year engagement anniversary, I still think about the 'dream engagement nails' I wish I had worn. This isn't about regret, but about the fun of imagining the perfect aesthetic for such a pivotal moment, especially now that the elegant nude nail trend is so timeless. For anyone planning their engagement or even just dreaming about it, choosing your nail color might seem small, but it truly frames your beautiful ring and hands in all those photos. I’ve come to realize that a sophisticated nude nail shade is often the most breathtaking choice. Why nude? Because it's universally flattering, it doesn't clash with your ring or outfit, and it exudes an understated elegance that never goes out of style. Imagine those close-up shots of your hand with your new ring – a clean, natural-looking nude simply makes everything pop without distracting. It’s the perfect backdrop for your sparkle! When picking your ideal nude engagement nails, consider your personal skin tone. There's a perfect nude for everyone, from peachy and warm undertones to cooler, pinkish hues. Some prefer a sheer, milky nude for a very natural, 'your nails but better' look, while others might opt for a more opaque, creamy shade. For a touch of subtle glamour, a hint of shimmer or a delicate French tip in a nude shade can add that extra special touch. These are the details I wished I had considered more carefully for my own proposal day, particularly with all the "photography" I was doing. Think about your proposal setting too! An outdoor location like the San Dunes, with its natural, earthy tones, would have been perfectly complemented by a soft, warm nude. For a more formal or indoor proposal, a classic, cooler nude would be equally stunning. The versatility of nude nails means they're appropriate for absolutely any scenario, enhancing rather than overpowering your significant moment. Beyond the proposal itself, having well-manicured nude nails also prepares you for all the celebrations that follow – engagement parties, bridal showers, and of course, your wedding day. It’s a color that transitions seamlessly through all these events, providing a consistent and polished look. If you're like me and were caught completely by surprise, don't fret! But if you have even an inkling, or are planning a surprise proposal for someone special, a subtle suggestion towards nail care could be a game-changer. For those who love DIY, investing in a good quality nude nail polish and a simple at-home manicure kit can ensure your hands are always photo-ready. And remember, it's not just about the color; healthy, strong nails are key. Hydrating your cuticles and keeping your nails filed can make even the simplest nude manicure look incredibly chic. On our five-year engagement anniversary, I still look at our photos and smile, but secretly, I dream of those perfectly elegant nude nails that would have completed the picture!
