I’m struggling to find time this year to sit down and read: either I’m off at a work event, falling asleep at 6pm because of work, or trying to have a social life outside of work. But I’m trying to read when I can even if it’s 2ish pages before I pass out at night.
So here’s my current read: The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center. I loved her book The Bodyguard and so far I’m loving this book just as much. It’s got a little of enemies to lovers and I’m identifying with our main character a bit too much. But so far thirteen chapters in so good.
... Read moreIt's so easy to get swept up in daily life and forget to carve out time for the things we love, like reading. I totally get the struggle of trying to balance work, a social life, and still wanting to dive into a good book! But honestly, even just a few pages before bed can make all the difference, and that's exactly what I'm doing with 'The Rom-Commers' by Katherine Center.
Speaking of this amazing book, let's talk about that cover! The illustrated cover featuring a woman and a man really sets the tone for the charming 'enemies to lovers' romance inside. It’s prominently displayed, pulling you into the story even before you open it. It perfectly captures the lighthearted yet heartfelt vibe that Katherine Center is known for. Whenever I see images of it, or even fan art inspired by the cover, I just want to dive back in. It truly feels like it deserves the 'Worth the Hype' sticker, which I've seen pop up in so many 'currently reading' posts!
If you're a fan of Katherine Center, you know her unique ability to blend humor with genuine emotional depth. After absolutely loving 'The Bodyguard,' I had high expectations for 'The Rom-Commers,' and it's certainly delivering. She has this way of creating characters you can't help but root for, and the protagonist in 'The Rom-Commers' is no exception. I find myself relating to her struggles and triumphs on such a personal level, which makes the 'enemies to lovers' dynamic even more compelling. It’s not just a trope; it feels real and earned.
For those curious about Katherine Center's other works or looking for more 'The Rom-Commers' content, a quick search on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, or even Goodreads will reveal a vibrant community. You’ll find discussions, beautiful book cover aesthetics, and yes, plenty of fan art that celebrates the characters and the story. It’s a wonderful way to connect with other readers who are just as enthusiastic about her novels.
Finding time to read might feel like a luxury, but it's a small act of self-care. Here are a few things that help me when I’m struggling:
Audiobooks: Perfect for commutes, chores, or even a quick walk. You can still enjoy the story even when your hands are busy.
Dedicated Reading Nook: Even if it’s just a comfy chair, having a specific spot can signal to your brain that it’s reading time.
Set a Small Goal: Instead of aiming for a chapter, try for 10-15 minutes or just a few pages. Small wins add up!
Join a Book Club: The commitment can be a great motivator to keep up with your reading.
Digital Detox: Sometimes, putting down the phone for an hour opens up unexpected reading opportunities.
'The Rom-Commers' has been a perfect escape for me, reminding me why I love reading so much. If you're looking for a heartwarming, funny, and deeply relatable story with a fantastic 'enemies to lovers' arc, definitely pick this one up. You might just find your next favorite read, and trust me, it’s worth making time for!
