Classic 2000s Movies for the Girls 🩷✨
Get your popcorn ready for these iconic movies.🍿
1. The Devil Wears Prada 👠
This movie is for the fashion girlies. Seeing the style evolution of Andy’s outfits throughout the film is so satisfying. I can’t even think of the color cerulean without thinking about Miranda Priestley’s little monologue about it. As a marketing girly, I like this movie’s emphasis on caring about the little details. Also the acting is phenomenal from Meryl Streep (duh!), Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt. (Side comment: Did y’all see the cast’s mini reunion during the SAG awards this year?)
2. Bring It On ❤️💚
This movie is the start of an iconic franchise. Fierce cheerleading competition, spirit fingers, and a good lesson about cultural appropriation is what this film is all about. I really like that it’s entertaining but still highlights and acknowledges a deeper topic. Go Clovers! ☘️
3. Legally Blonde 👱🏻♀️🩷
Law School… What like it’s hard? How can you not love Elle Woods. She girl bosses without even realizing it by accomplishing things in her own way when people underestimate her. You have to give miss Elle her 10s too for always looking stylish while doing it. This movie is just a warm hug, and a reminder to believe in yourself even when people doubt you.
4. Mean Girls 👚
“On Wednesdays we wear pink.” So many random one liners come from this movie. “She doesn’t even go here!” This movie has been referenced so many times throughout pop culture from being a book, to a Broadway musical, to a musical film… this story has seen it all. It also was referenced by miss Ariana Grande in her thank u, next music video. I could rewatch this movie again and again and not get bored of it. A classic in my books.

OMG, I totally agree with these picks! The 2000s truly served up some iconic movies that just stick with you. There's something so comforting and empowering about rewatching these films, whether it's for the fashion, the witty one-liners, or the sheer nostalgia. These classic 2000s movies aren't just entertainment; they're a vibe, a time capsule of girl power and unforgettable moments. Beyond the amazing list shared (seriously, who doesn't love Elle Woods?!), there are a few more gems from the era that deserve a spot on your 2000s girl movies marathon. If you're looking for more funny high school movies or funny teen girl movies, you absolutely have to add A Cinderella Story (2004) to your list. Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray? A dreamy pairing, and a modern fairy tale that’s all about finding your voice and pursuing your dreams. It's got that perfect blend of romance, comedy, and high school drama that defined so many of our favorite films from back then. Another one that always makes me laugh and cheer is She's the Man (2006). Amanda Bynes in disguise as her brother to play soccer? Pure comedic gold! It’s such a fun, feel-good movie with a great message about breaking gender stereotypes and following your passion. Plus, Channing Tatum in his early career is a definite bonus! These films, alongside the ones mentioned, truly capture the spirit of 2000s movies girls loved. To make your rewatch experience even better, why not plan the ultimate classic 2000s movies night with your besties? First, set the mood! Think glitter, pink everything, and maybe even some butterfly clips. Dig out your old Juicy Couture tracksuit or your favorite low-rise jeans for a truly authentic Y2K vibe. Next, snacks! Popcorn is a given, but don't forget the candy. Sour Patch Kids, anything with sprinkles, or even a homemade slushie can transport you right back. Then, choose your streaming platform! Many of these 2000s movies are readily available. I've found The Devil Wears Prada and Legally Blonde often streaming on MAX, while Bring It On is usually on Prime Video. For others like Mean Girls, check Apple TV, Paramount+, or Pluto TV. It’s super easy to gather your favorites for a binge session. These movies offer more than just laughs; they often feature inspiring female characters who navigate challenges with wit and resilience. From the fierce cheerleading of Bring It On to the legal triumphs of Legally Blonde, they remind us to be ourselves, stand up for what's right, and maybe even wear a little pink while doing it. So grab your snacks, gather your friends, and get ready to dive back into the fabulous world of 2000s movies!
