Just staring at me 😂
Starting a new project while having many unfinished ones around can feel overwhelming, but it's a common experience among creatives. I often find myself eager to dive into fresh ideas even when previous projects haven't been completed. This can create a physical and mental clutter that sometimes feels daunting. Over the years, I've learned that acknowledging this feeling is the first step. Instead of trying to finish everything at once or abandoning old projects, I prioritize them by urgency and passion. I keep a small notebook or digital list where I track my ongoing projects and note what requires the next action. Another helpful practice is creating dedicated workspaces—separate areas or times for new ideas and for finishing ongoing work. This separation helps reduce the feeling that incomplete projects are staring at me, demanding attention, and instead allows me to focus fully on the current task. Additionally, setting realistic goals and timelines prevents burnout. Sometimes, simply dedicating 15 minutes a day to an old project can revive my motivation and reduce the sense of clutter. For those struggling with this, I'd recommend embracing the idea that creativity is non-linear. It’s okay to have multiple projects at various stages; this diversity often fuels innovation and fresh perspectives. The key is to develop a system that keeps you organized without stifling your enthusiasm for starting something new.
