South Shore Access Cleanup
We spend our off season cleaning up our lake and communities! Yesterday we were at South Shore Access on Center Hill Lake! Eddie was still feeling under the weather after being sick so I tackled the cleanup myself. He will still so sweet to drive me there, hang out while I cleaned and then helped load all the trash up in the truck! 🥰 I was able to collect 226.4 pounds of trash in about 2 hours! We love our lake 💖🌎🚮

It's incredibly rewarding to step back and see the 'Before After' transformation after a dedicated cleanup effort. My recent experience at South Shore Access really highlighted how much impact even a single person can have. If you're inspired to organize your own community cleanup, whether it's a fall clean-up in your local park or a lake shore project, here are a few tips I've learned along the way: First, gather your essentials: sturdy gloves, trash bags (reusable if possible!), a grabber tool, and comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. For a fall cleanup, think layers – it can start chilly and warm up, or rain can surprise you! Safety is key, so consider bright vests if working near roads. You might find anything from plastic bottles and old tires to fishing lines and lost personal items, so be prepared for diverse debris. Next, scout your location. Identify areas with the most litter and plan your route. Coordinating with local authorities or park rangers can be helpful for waste disposal and getting permission. Many communities have specific days for large item pickups or offer resources for volunteers to make your cleanup effort smoother. Document your progress! Taking 'Before After' photos isn't just for sharing on social media; it's a powerful motivator and a way to show the tangible difference you've made. It also helps track problem areas over time and can inspire others to join the cause. Seeing the visual change is truly impactful! Finally, make it a community event! Even if you start small like I did, inviting friends, family, or local groups can amplify your efforts. Sharing stories and photos afterward helps spread awareness and encourages more people to get involved. We all share these beautiful spaces, and together, we can keep them pristine, from Center Hill Lake to your own local waterways.

Welcome! So excited to see more from you in the future💛
