Attempting
Since I have no nails to try my technique on I’ve been sitting with a blue palette and running it through different techniques — checkerboard, mosaic, scale, dots, and a plain white for balance. Wanted to see how a full cohesive set comes together, not just single practice nails 💙
Slowly figuring out what a “signature” look might even mean for me. This felt like a good direction to keep pulling on.
Nail diary still the heart of this page — just showing the process as it happens 🤍

Experimenting with nail art without actual nails can initially feel limiting, but using a palette to test different techniques is a fantastic way to refine your skills and discover your artistic style. By working through patterns such as checkerboard, mosaic, scales, and dots in varying shades of blue, you develop a better understanding of how these textures and colors interact to form eye-catching combinations. This process not only helps to visualize ideas before applying them on nails but also inspires creativity when putting together a full cohesive set rather than isolated nail designs. In my experience, finding a "signature" look takes time and thoughtful experimentation. It involves balancing boldness with subtlety—like the plain white balance you mentioned—which provides contrast and harmonizes intricate patterns. Incorporating this practice into a nail diary or progress journal is tremendously helpful, as reflecting on what works and what doesn’t sharpens your technique over time. For anyone trying to establish their unique style in nail art, I recommend playing with a consistent color palette—blue in this case—and exploring various textural elements. Don’t hesitate to try layering different patterns or blending them across the set to create a story on your fingers. Documenting the journey through photos or notes can also motivate continual growth and creativity. Ultimately, this mindful approach ensures that your nail set not only looks stunning but truly represents your personal artistic expression.
