In addition, The Daily give me a warning before you ruin my morning like that I was not prepared! #TheDaily#patriarchy#matriarchy
Listening to the podcast episode on Andrew Tate gave me a lot to think about regarding how entrenched patriarchal attitudes continue to shape society. It’s really shocking how some of the language used by men like Tate can normalize disrespect towards women, and sadly, many seem to admire that harmful rhetoric. I feel it points to a deeper issue about how society values gender roles and respect. From my experience and conversations with friends, there’s a growing frustration with the entitlement some men exhibit, which is often rooted in old patriarchal norms. Many believe that reshaping these deeply ingrained views requires a culture shift that starts with education and open dialogue about gender equality from a young age. Interestingly, the idea of having a 'matriarchy' or giving women more authoritative power as a counterbalance to patriarchy pops up now and then. While the thought of a system where women have more control is appealing in terms of equality, I believe the real goal should be mutual respect and shared power rather than switching who holds dominance. Hearing passionate discussions like those from #TheDaily is a reminder that awareness and conversation are crucial steps. Men looking up to figures who disrespect women signals a gap in positive role models advocating kindness, respect, and equality. For any real change, society needs to collectively challenge these harmful voices and promote examples that uplift everyone. Personally, I think small actions matter—whether it’s calling out disrespect, supporting inclusive policies, or encouraging empathy among peers. Change won’t happen overnight, but ongoing effort can erode the outdated structures of patriarchy that harm us all. This conversation has motivated me to be more vocal about equality and to listen more deeply to different perspectives on gender dynamics.
