My Favorite Hair Care Products
*For reference I have 4a/4b curl pattern, high porosity, and dry hair*
Hiiii!!!
These are some of my favorite hair care products! These are some of my ride or die’s when it comes to shampoo, conditioning, styling, and maintenance. I have been natural for 7 years and i’ve used hundreds of products.
It took me years to find products and techniques that work for me and provide definition and volume to my liking. It was not easy but i learned on my own in my own way which was the best part!
Let me know what some of your fav products are and what are some that you’d never use again (mine will be in a later post 😏)
Okay love you bye !!!!

Okay, my curly-haired friends, let's get real about conditioner! We all know how crucial it is, especially for those of us with 4a/4b curls, high porosity, and hair that tends to be on the drier side. For years, I struggled with finding the right way to apply conditioner to really make a difference, especially on my delicate ends. And trust me, focusing on the ends is a game-changer! Why the ends, you ask? Well, your hair's ends are the oldest part of your strands, meaning they've seen the most wear and tear. For high porosity hair like mine, moisture can escape easily, and the ends are always the first to show dryness, split ends, and breakage. If you just slap conditioner all over, your roots can get weighed down, while your thirsty ends are still crying for hydration. Here's my personal routine for applying conditioner that has literally transformed my curls: 1. Start with Soaking Wet Hair: This is non-negotiable! Conditioner works best on hair that's dripping wet. It helps distribute the product evenly and allows the ingredients to penetrate better. After shampooing (I rotate between Mielle Rosemary Mint and Aussie Miracle Curls, sometimes Olaplex No. 4 for a deeper cleanse), I make sure my hair is thoroughly saturated. 2. Sectioning is Your Best Friend: My hair is thick, so trying to condition it all at once is a recipe for disaster. I usually divide my hair into 4-6 sections. This makes sure every strand gets the love it needs. 3. Focus on the Mid-Lengths to Ends: This is where the 'ends only' magic happens. I take a generous amount of my favorite conditioner – like Aussie Miracle Curls Conditioner or tgin Miracle Repairx – and really work it into each section, starting about halfway down my strands and concentrating heavily on the very ends. For a quick boost, Aussie 3 Minute Moist is fantastic here. I gently squeeze the product into my hair, almost like I’m scrunching it in. 4. Detangle Gently (and only with conditioner in!): With the conditioner in, my hair is slippery and much easier to detangle. I use my fingers first, then a wide-tooth comb, always starting from the ends and slowly working my way up to the roots. Never yank! If you hear snapping, you're being too rough. This is also where you can really feel the conditioner coating those fragile ends. 5. The "Squish to Condish" Technique: This method has been a lifesaver for my curls! While my hair is still saturated with conditioner, I cup sections of my hair in my hands and "squish" them upwards towards my scalp, creating a squishing sound. This helps to push water and conditioner into the hair cuticle, encouraging curl clumps and enhancing definition. It’s like giving your curls a big drink! 6. Don't Rinse It All Out! For my dry, high porosity hair, I rarely rinse out 100% of my conditioner. I'll rinse about 70-80% of it, leaving a little slip behind. This helps with moisture retention throughout the week. Experiment to see what works for your hair – some people prefer a full rinse, others a partial. 7. Post-Rinse Protection: After rinsing, I immediately follow up with my stylers. The Doux Big Poppa or Taliah Waajid Apple & Aloe Hold Me Down! Gelle are my go-tos for definition. And for daily maintenance, a spritz of Aussie Miracle Curls Refresher Spray and a few drops of Aussie Miracle Curls Oil on the ends keep everything moisturized. By really paying attention to how I apply my conditioner, especially to those thirsty ends, I've seen a huge improvement in my hair's health, definition, and overall moisture. It's not just about the products (though my favorites like Aussie, Mielle, and tgin are amazing!), but how you use them. Give these tips a try, and let me know how it goes for your curls!
