Wavy Hair Routine🎀🎀
Hey everyone! If you've got beautiful wavy or curly hair like mine, you know the struggle (and joy!) of finding the perfect routine to make those waves pop. For the longest time, I battled frizz and undefined hair, but discovering the right wavy & curly hair routine completely transformed my locks. I'm so excited to share my easy, step-by-step guide that helps me achieve defined, bouncy waves every time. This isn't just about applying products; it's about understanding your hair and giving it what it needs to shine! My routine always starts in the shower with thoroughly wet hair. After shampooing and conditioning, I make sure to detangle my hair before rinsing out my conditioner completely. This is key! I use a wide-tooth comb or a wet brush, gently working my way up from the ends. Brushing your hair when it's wet with conditioner helps minimize breakage and ensures your hair is perfectly clumped for those beautiful wave patterns later. Once detangled, I rinse most of the conditioner out, leaving just a little slip. Next up, a good leave-in conditioner is a game-changer for wavy hair. After stepping out of the shower, I gently squeeze out some of the excess water from my hair with my hands – I don't towel dry yet! Then, I apply a generous amount of leave-in conditioner. This step is crucial for hydration and helps to combat frizz. I distribute it evenly through my hair, using a 'praying hands' motion and then gently scrunching it in. This helps seal in moisture and provides a base for my styling products. Now, it’s time to really encourage those wave patterns. I use a clean microfiber towel or an old cotton t-shirt to gently squeeze out the excess water from my hair. I do this by 'micro-plopping' – gently scrunching sections of my hair upwards towards my scalp. This removes excess water without disrupting the curl clumps, and it also helps to absorb any extra product that might weigh your hair down. This is also when I apply my styling products – usually a lightweight gel or mousse. I make sure to scrunch these into my hair, again focusing on lifting the hair towards the scalp to enhance definition and hold. The final, and perhaps most important, step for me is drying. I often start with a light spritz of hairspray at this stage for extra hold before I even pick up my diffuser. Then, it's time to *diffuse*! Using a diffuser attachment on my hairdryer, I dry my hair on a low heat, low speed setting. I start by hover diffusing all around my head for about 5-10 minutes to set the cast, then I gently cup sections of my hair into the diffuser bowl and lift it towards my scalp. This technique adds volume at the roots and helps to define each wave pattern. I diffuse until my hair is about 80-90% dry, then I let it air dry the rest of the way to minimize frizz. Beyond wash day, how to maintain wavy hair is a frequent question. To refresh my waves on non-wash days, I lightly mist my hair with water (sometimes mixed with a tiny bit of leave-in or curl refresher spray) and gently scrunch. If needed, I might do a quick diffuse. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase or tying your hair up in a 'pineapple' can also help preserve your waves overnight. Experimenting with different products to enhance wavy hair, like a stronger gel for more hold or a lighter mousse for a softer look, is also key to finding your best wavy hair routine. Remember, every wavy hair journey is unique, so don't be afraid to adjust these steps to suit your own hair type and texture!
your hair looks naturally straight, but I still love how it looked at the end!!❤️
