Life as a Community Based Doula
Hey Friends and Happy New Year 🙌🏾✨
It’s been a little minute since I posted on here but life has been giving me a run for my money. I’ve been trying my best to recharge and get my house in order and it’s been more of resting and catching up on sleep.
Most of you do not know that outside of being a full time Clinical Counseling student I am a community based doula that specializes in fertility education and birth doula support in Columbia SC. I am very active in my community during one of the most important times in a woman’s life and along with the amazing birth workers I serve with it makes this profession worth it all.
Birth work is tiring and requires you to have a strong support system established. Birth work is community, early mornings and late nights. Birth work is a journey with your kinfolk 💖✨
So yes, if I’m not submitting assignments before 11:59am I am serving families during their fertility struggles, pregnancies, and one or three births at a time 😅💖
Much love,
Your chill neighborhood Doula 💁🏾♀️✨
The role of a community-based doula is essential, offering critical support to families during fertility challenges and childbirth. A doula provides emotional and physical support, helping women navigate the complexities of pregnancy and labor. Many doulas like the author dedicate themselves to education, offering insights into fertility, pregnancy wellness, and postpartum care. They are an integral part of a woman's birth experience, often working alongside healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and fulfilling journey into motherhood. In Columbia, SC, community-based doulas also emphasize cultural sensitivity, particularly within the black community, where they actively support families facing unique challenges. Building a strong support system within the community is fundamental to this work. Doulas not only assist during labor but also in preparation and support through challenging times, highlighting the importance of mental health and well-being as part of maternal care. The commitment and service that doulas provide are invaluable, contributing significantly to healthy births and positive parenting experiences. Whether you are a prospective doula or a family seeking support, understanding the doula's role is key in making informed choices during one of life's most transformative events.

How would I go about specializing in the fertility area I’ve wanted to be a doula for a while and that’s were my interest started
