Overhyped or actually worth it? 🍯

⭐️ Overall what would I rate this product? 5/10

• Moisture: 5/10

I have type 4 hair, it seems like wet or dry it just sits on top of my hair shaft

• Slip / Detangling: 3/10

IMO not the slippiest and not recommended to detangle with.

• Definition: 1/10

Best as a base, not a one-product styler

• Smell: 9/10

Sweet but subtle🍯

• Weight: 6/10

Lightweight but can feel heavy if you overapply.

This product makes my hair really soft like 10/10 but it happens after letting it sit for a few hours when applied to wet hair. This product also makes my hair flake badd😭, so I will not be buying this again.

I'm also not sure if I paid 17.49 for this product, online it says so I actually think it was $9 at CVS but if I did, I won't ever do it again🤦🏾‍♀️.

Feel welcome to share your experiences down below🙂

... Read moreAfter reading about the Camille Rose Honey Hydrate Leave-In, I totally get where you're coming from! It's so true that not every product works for everyone, especially when it comes to diverse hair textures like type 4. My own journey with leave-in conditioners has been a series of trials and errors, and I’ve learned a few things that might help others who are curious about this specific honey-colored leave-in. One thing that often impacts how a product performs on type 4 hair is how it interacts with our curls' unique structure and porosity. When a product feels like it's just "sitting on top" and not absorbing, it could be a few things. Sometimes, applying it to hair that's too wet can dilute the product's effectiveness, or if your hair has low porosity, the cuticles might be tightly shut, making it harder for moisture to penetrate. I've found that applying my leave-in to *damp*, not soaking wet, hair often helps with absorption. Also, sometimes a lighter touch is key – over-applying any product, even a lightweight one, can lead to it feeling heavy or not sinking in properly. The flaking issue you mentioned is a big one, and honestly, it's one of my biggest pet peeves! Flaking can often happen when a product contains ingredients that don't play well with others. If you're layering this Camille Rose Honey Hydrate Leave-In Conditioner with other styling gels or creams, try experimenting with using it alone first, or with products from the same line. Sometimes, certain ingredients form a film that then flakes off when it dries or when you manipulate your hair. Another common culprit is applying too much product, which can dry down to a flaky residue. You also hit on a great point about it being 'best as a base, not a one-product styler.' I've had similar experiences with many leave-ins. For type 4 hair, a leave-in often acts as the first layer of moisture and protection, but it might not provide the hold or definition needed for a full style. If I'm aiming for definition for a wash-and-go, I almost always follow my leave-in with a gel or foam. Thinking of it as a primer for your hair rather than the final step can totally change your expectations and results. And let's talk about the price! It's wild how much prices can vary. Whether you pay $9 or $17.49 for this honey hydrate leave-in, you want to feel like you're getting your money's worth. If a product doesn't deliver on its core promises for your hair type, even a lower price might not make it 'worth it.' For those who find the Camille Rose Honey Hydrate Leave-In doesn't quite hit the mark, don't despair! There are so many amazing options out there, from budget-friendly finds to more luxurious brands, that can offer incredible moisture and slip for type 4 curls. It's all about finding what truly loves your hair. Keep experimenting and sharing your honest reviews – they help so many of us navigate the vast world of hair care!

I’ve been using this for two years now and I would say I do not use this product by itself. I would use an oil and mix it in my hair.
