The journey to self-love 🌸
So I’ve been on a real long self care journey. As you know self-care or self-love is always hard to manage but with tools and tips, it’s possible to believe in yourself. I’ve been trying this challenge and so far it has allowed me more happiness, less depression and less anxiety. I myself suffer from severe anxiety and I’m not too sure sometimes how to cope. Sometimes my ways bleed into friendships and relationships and I’m working on making that better this year. Maybe this can help you too!
Side note - a friend sent this to me so not sure where she got it

Hey everyone! So, I mentioned I've been on this incredible self-care journey, and it’s truly helped me feel like I’ve slipped through the hands of some really tough times. You know that feeling when anxiety or sadness just grips you, and it feels impossible to break free? That's exactly what I'm talking about. Learning to be grateful for escaping those moments, and for the strength I found along the way, has been key to my healing. For me, self-love isn't just a pretty phrase; it’s about actively nurturing yourself so those negative feelings lose their grip. It’s about building a life where you have the tools to navigate challenges, rather than being overwhelmed by them. One of the biggest game-changers for me has been incorporating a structured self-care approach. It’s not always about grand gestures; sometimes it’s the small, consistent things that make all the difference. I found this amazing self-care checklist (similar to one my friend shared!) that really breaks down self-care into manageable, monthly activities. It reminded me that true self-care encompasses so many aspects of our lives – mental, emotional, spiritual, and social. Here are a few types of activities that have truly helped me, inspired by that checklist: Mindful Moments & Spiritual Connection: Taking a “weekend with God” or dedicating time to quiet reflection, meditation, or prayer, whatever resonates with you, can be incredibly grounding. It helps reset your perspective and reminds you of your inner strength. Even just 15 minutes of uninterrupted quiet time can make a huge difference. Nourishing Social Connections: Scheduling a “lunch with a friend” isn't just about eating; it’s about genuine connection, laughter, and feeling seen. When anxiety tries to isolate you, reaching out to loved ones reminds you that you're not alone. These interactions are vital for our emotional well-being. Digital Detox: Have you ever tried “24 hours no social media”? It sounds daunting, but trust me, it’s liberating! The constant comparison and information overload on social media can often fuel anxiety. Stepping away, even for a day, allows you to reconnect with your real life and reclaim your time and focus. You'll be amazed at how much lighter you feel. Prioritizing Joy & Romance: Whether it's a “date night” with a partner or a special solo date with yourself, intentionally planning activities that bring you joy is crucial. This could be anything from exploring a new hobby, reading a book, watching a favorite movie, or simply indulging in a relaxing bath. These moments remind you that you deserve happiness and pleasure. Physical Well-being: Don't forget the basics! Gentle exercise, nourishing meals, and adequate sleep are fundamental to managing mental health. I've found that even a short walk outside can significantly shift my mood. Embracing these practices isn't always easy, especially when you're feeling down. But by consistently showing up for myself, I've gradually built resilience. It's like learning to swim; at first, you might flounder, but with practice, you gain confidence and skill. And that feeling of slipping through the hands of past struggles, seeing how far you've come, instills a profound sense of gratitude. It motivates you to keep going and embrace the journey of self-love, one mindful step at a time. Remember, your journey is unique, and every small step forward is a victory worth celebrating.
